Where are you seeing that? I already renewed for this season and it was $140.

Looks like Rangers signed Cal Quantrill to minor league deal.

Did you do the deal they floated out a month or two ago, where you got a hat and maybe some other perks? That might be the reason.

I never did and the offer expired eventually. I'll just do this $100 deal.

I remember seeing the hat promo thing, but I don't remember if it was part of the package when I renewed.

The GMJ catch might have been "better", but nothing will surpass this catch for me

Don't remember if I've told this story on a Rangers thread or not, but I was 12 years old and at that game. Didn't see that catch because my grandfather made us leave to miss traffic. My uncle went insane when he called the next day to ask me about seeing the catch and a perfect game. We heard it in the car leaving the stadium.

I was there. 19 years old. I remember at some point in the 6th inning things got serious. I still have the DMN newspaper.

You left a perfect game in progress?

I'd have held a grudge with the old man for a LONG LONG time.

I was still at least somewhat ignorant to just how rare it was or I probably would have lost it.

So is the number 3 more slimming than 4? Hey, if it gets him to reproduce his stats at Arizona I am all for it.

it's also the number of swings he takes before he goes back to grab some more bench

Hey, spring training hasn't even started yet. We are all supposed to be optimistic! He's got his old number back and is in a contract year... I think things are lining for a big year from #3

Thoughts on this ranking? My first impression seeing it on twitter was that #2 is too high. Then I looked up his stats and he had a 5.6WAR, which is higher than I was expecting.

He has plenty of talent, but he needs to stay in the lineup more. Needs to get up to the 150+ games played range.

I've been let down by this team too many times over the years. I never get optimistic pre-season. Right now I'm predicting about 75 wins and out of the race by the all star break.

You realize the rest of us on here are Rangers fans as well, right?

And they won the World Series two seasons ago?

I'm not quite sure I'm following your point. I wasn't discussing what other people do or choose to think….I was saying what I do. I was responding to a post that said "we're all supposed to be optimistic". Well….no. We can CHOOSE to all be optimistic, but we aren't obligated to. I cope better when I expect the worst and then am pleasantly surprised….like when we won the WS. But I've spent too many years convincing myself we had a contending team and then having it not be the case. I just don't set myself up for the disappointment that way anymore. You don't have to agree with it. I'm not saying you should do what I do. Never hinted or suggested that anyone should. I was speaking entirely for and about myself.

There are things I do have optimism about, like the starting pitching. But I would point out that this whole exchange started with a tongue in cheek comment I made about Joc Pederson - who, in my opinion, is a washed up bum. I have just as much right to my opinion as you do to disagree with it. But let's not act like I violated some sort of baseball fan bro code by not drinking the preseason kool aid. C'mon man.

I don't care about a bro code. I'm not even sure what that means. And I don't drink the kool aid every spring training and am overly optimistic. I see holes in this team just like I do every year, and just like I see in just about any MLB team that will take the field this year or any other season. The cool thing about baseball is there are so many twists and turns that each team will have to navigate that it's hard to know what will happen when it's all said and done

My comment was geared towards your first sentence. " I've been let down by this team too many times over the years." Just pointing out that you're not on an island with that. Everyone here has experienced the exact same thing with this team as you have, and I might not have followed as long as you but I have at least forty years under my belt with this team. Unfortunately I also only have one World Series championship to show for it and a couple of other times that we don't need to bring up again.

Personally, I don't care if someone thinks we'll not win a game, go undefeated or anything in between. But whatever the expectations are, we're all going to live through the same season together. Maybe my point got lost in the translation there. It happens.

Bruh... if you aren't a Believer...

We won the WS... 2023... Baseball Purity.

Belly up to the bar and take the Koolaid.

Baseball is too hard to predict, although for many years you could predict that our team would struggle, if only because it was inevitable.

I still think we have a shot at being good. For Toronto to have such a good 2023 season, follow that up with a terrible 2024, then a run within a hair of a title in 2025 gives me hope that we are due for another playoff run.

Mentions a possible reunion with Corbin. Also Andujar could be a RH bat. But mostly bargain bin pickup type stuff right before or during ST.

The Tigers going to arbitration with the reigning two time Cy Young winner and then handing scum bag Valdez $38 million is what is wrong with baseball. Skubal is one of the best pitchers we've seen in 10-20 years not named deGrom, Verlander, Kersh or Scherzer, and they don't want to pay their OWN GUY 40+ per year. Ridiculous.

That also presumes Skubal would take an extension. He's going for a record pitcher contract once the lockout is over.

No doubt, but why would Detroit not offer him that extension? He's the reason they are on the map these days. He's about as bullet proof as you can get in this day and age.

Bradford can't catch a break with the injuries. He was staring to be a solid mid rotation piece then the injury bug got him.
