Gavin Fien is one. That's a big one.

Rosario too... he was awesome but very hurt. Missing 2 straight years.

Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker, Jacob Latz and Cody Bradford say hi.

I think the average Rangers fan would like to see something in between the players you listed above and the 1990's Braves with Glavine, Smoltz, and Avery. Mercker and Wohlers too.

If we included Walcott in a trade for Gore, I'd come outta my skin.

We did not.

#2 Fein
#6 Rosario

+3 more?!

I'm guessing Bradford isn't doing well.

see the tweet above from Evan Grant, he lists 4 of the 5.

And on Bradford, he was always going to be "around the all-star break" as far as availability I believe. And given his propensity to break down, maybe he needs to be in the pen anyway and maybe make a few spot starts.

Rosario is a stud but no knows if he'll ever pitch again. He missed all last year and then has already been ruled out for next year.

I didn't see the "next page" of posts.

Regarding Bradford. He was a mid-season hopeful. I just thought he was starting to throw this week

Gore just doesn't seem like a guy worthy of selling the farm. Unless we see something to correct... a $5M innings guy could have been salvaged on the open market for no prospects. Maybe there just isn't any bargains out there.

deGrom, Eovaldi, Leiter, Gore

Latz, Rocker, Bradford.

10.5 K/9 for a 26 year old left is impressive. But, yes for what we are giving up there better be an idea to fix the command.

Let Maddux work with him, he will help him figure it out. Oh wait....

I feel like that's a lot to give up for Gore but I am hoping they see something I don't.

For those curious; MacKenzie Gore would've been second on the pitching staff last year with a 3.0 WAR, only behind Eovaldi. He's also only 26 as discussed above.

Kumar Rocker is 26 and Jack Leiter is 25, and Gore is miles ahead in pitching development than either of them. Not saying Gore is some finished project, but this gives the Rangers a legit top rotation in the MLB.

Lastly, Rosario is the only guy of note in that trade at the moment, and even he has been as injured as you can get as a young pitcher and missed a ton of time. Sure, Fien was a first round pick this past draft, but we have no idea about him whatsoever, and he plays the same position as Walcott (they are 18 and 19 as well, respectively).

Big fan of this trade, it'll take years to see if any of the prospects we sent hit, but I'm willing to bet that if Gore gives us 3.5 WAR for 2 years that we're likely the winners in this trade.

My first impression is that none of the prospects we gave up were guys that project as anything more than replacement level guys, except for Rosario, but his injury history significantly harms his value. I was down on the Fein pick the moment we made it, so I'm glad we were able to cash out some value there.

Not to poop on the guy necessarily, and to more poop on the Rangers current farm system, but Fein isn't even a top 100 prospect. I know they are some of our better prospects, but in the grand scheme this deal isn't trading someone like Jett Williams (the main guy the Mets just traded for Peralta).

I'm not sure if Fien would be anyway, but I don't think many of the lists that include the 2025 draftees are out yet. Fitz Gerald is actually the guy I wish weren't in this deal.

This is basically for one year of Gore. I follow Nats some and he was decent on a bad team. '27 isn't happening so we will see.

Fitz-Gerald has a bit of a Josh Smith (high-end) or Thomas Sagesse (low-end) profile IMO. Fun guy to follow in the minors because he's hitting for a pretty good average but not enough pop to profile as much more than a utility infielder IF the glove is good enough to stick in the middle infield.

TBH this is the problem throughout the entire minor league system right now. We have a lot of guys that profile like the next Juan Pierre, and in today's game that profile doesn't make a big difference in winning and losing. We need some prospects (like Walcott) that profile as OPS studs.

Bingo. They started taking a bunch of guys who I think have high floors but pretty low ceilings. Nothing wrong with taking some of those guys, but in this day and age of ball, you need guys who can hit 450 foot bombs and throw 97 when they're 20 (being hyperbolic just to make the point).

You have a point on the whole system but….

Those big numbers were in Rookie ball so I don't put much stock in them.

Read the scouting report on him, scouts project him as a 12-15 HR guy. Josh Smith hit 10 HRs last year... thus my projection. Always possible that a guy could have more in the tank and develop more pop, but as TSkymm said, it'd be nice if we'd at least take a swing at some of these toolsy kids with big exit velos every once in a while just to see if we could hit on one of those.

I just went and looked back at the 2025 draft again... I'm still not sure what the overall strategy was. Go under slot by a million for Fein at 12... ok, must be targeting someone to go over slot for later... but then we go over slot by a million at 52 for a college pitcher ranked as the 70th prospect?

There is a reason that outside of the top 10 or so picks college kids don't get over slot deals... their leverage is much weaker than the high school kids. (no one wants to delay their Free Agency clock when they are already 21 or 22) Maybe Russell had some big NIL deal at Tennessee that he dangled in front of us, but it looks like we got screwed over and went over slot for a kid we reached for.

"We" have traded, DFA, or bound/gagged/disposed of Pederson a number of times over the winter.

Rangers management hasn't done anything though outside of Nimmo.

I think CY gets hung up on pitching a little too much. He's trying to craft the perfect rotation and misses the offensive side of things, IMO.

Our defense has lost three GG players, Heim wasn't GG anymore but he was great in 23. We have added zero offense. So we're going to roll out a lineup with less pop and about the same propensity to get on base.

I hate to be negative. And before anyone claims I think that we should be free spending, that is not the case. I want our owner to be frugal with a purpose. We dont have to be too 5 in spending, but CY needs to show me something soon.

That being said, I like the Gore pick up.

Just playing devils advocate here because I 100% agree with upgrade the offense.
Lets say CY has been told he has he has $xxx.00 to spend… who helps the offense??? Jared Kelnic got minor league contract, I suppose he might have been a cheap option.
Josh Bell was available at 1st for a on fairly
decent deal with some pop. But who else fills a void with budgetary restrictions???
Water Boy

At this point I'll take a player who is league average at the plate. Can't remember exactly how much money we have to spend before we get to the tax limit but if I remember correctly it's enough to sign a few average players.
