Passan just reported that the Rangers are trying to deal Adolis and Heim before Friday's tender deadline.

FWIW my wife told me Heim's house in Southlake is for sale.

I think we all knew they would be candidates 1(a) and 1(b) to go, but Passan makes its transparent. My only thing now is are they going to have to attach assets to each of them to get them gone?

They can non tender both so no need to do that. It's just about seeing if there is a market.

I suspect both players have their agents fielding calls on what amount teams are willing to sign them.

You likely don't want to trade for a player and then go through Arb.

I wonder if we can just have our pitchers hit and DH for Adolis? Let him earn another GG in RF and only serve as a PH. Maybe Evo and deGrom still have a little pop in the bat.

Yes, I saw that somewhere, X/Twitter I assume. Somebody posted a pic WITH the address. But after arguing ensued in the comments, it came out that he and the family had already moved, so they weren't actually being doxxed.

I don't think there will be much interest in Heim, so he will likely be non-tendered I would assume, given how he has regressed both offensively and defensively. I believe if he gets non-tendered, then he can no longer go through arbitration and someone can sign him for whatever the big league minimum is for him (given his years in the league).

If somebody trades for him, without first agreeing to a contract, he'd get much more in arbitration that teams are going to be willing to pay him, IMO.

I assume someone will bite on Garcia. He has the plus arm and glove in RF, then they will think that they can "fix" him at the plate. He pretty much is what he is at the plate. but you never know, maybe with a change of scenery and knowing that he will be playing for a free agent contact will get him to change his approach a bit.

Heim seems most likely to be traded. At only $6 MM for Arb3, he would be a low cost option for a seasoned MLB catcher. Someone may give us something for that.

Garcia is more like $13 MM. People will not want to pay that AND give up something in trade. He'll end up somewhere as a FA, but for more like $7-8 MM.

I mentioned this in our other thread during the season but, Heim looks burnt out. Lots of eye rolling at the plate and loafing behind the plate.

He hustled on the bases usually but he's so slow, they use a calendar to time him.

Probably just battered Ranger syndrome, but it's looking more and more to me like this off-season's acquisitions are going to be a handful of reclamation projects and average (at best) situational veterans (like Pederson). We're not signing Tucker, or any of the big name FA's - not if we have to cut payroll. I think it's going to be another year of "but these are the same guys who in '23….."

I hope for all I'm worth that I'm wrong, but that's what the tea leaves are telling me.

His hitting is similar to most of his career. 2023 was an outlier. Defensively, I think being a big catcher at 6-4 220 lbs, 30 years old, and having caught close to 1000 games as a professional across minors and majors, it's just caught up with him. 800 games caught has always been somewhat of a magic number for catchers to decline and he's well past it.

hmm... you would still need Victory for the in market games it appears

sburg2007
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Garcia, Heim, sborz and Jacob Webb non-tendered. Sborz surprises me bc he'd be like 1.1 mil.
DallasAg 94
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's about $19M projected. COTS has $191M projected with the $19M, for 2026.

Means we're at about $172M for 2026.

Needs:
2C - FA/Trade?!
RF - Internal
RP - Scrap heap
RP - Internal

We could still try to sign them, but I'd say Adolis will probably be a little salty.

Sborz didn't pitch in 2025 and I suspect he'll get a minor league deal with an invite. I wouldn't plan on him pitching in 2026 and he may decide to retire.

I think we might spend $10M in signings. Go at $182M and see how the new coaching does. Need to replace 30HRs/.220 in combined production from Heim and Adolis.

So:
_C: Higgy
1B: Burger
2B: Semien
3B: Jung
SS: Seager
LF: Osuna
CF: Langford
RF:
DH: Pederson

U: Freeman
UIF: Smith
UIF: Duran
UOF: Carter
UOF: Helman
94chem
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'd love to see Carter in LF, because Osuna can't throw. But I also think Duran could be a GG RF. And I loved what we got out of Helman. Bottom line, there is no reason to sacrifice arms or speed in the OF, and offensively Garcia won't be missed. 30 HR seems like an insurmountable goal for a Ranger. The 2 guys who could do it will likely combine for one full season of games played.
94chem,

Maton to white Sox on a two year deal with club option for third. Questionable if that was best he could get. Weird.
DallasAg 94
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I didn't see him as someone that gave me much confidence. Sure, he usually got out of jams, but he walked too many batters and patient hitters seem to eat him up.
DallasAg 94

Looks like Haggerty was retained on a 1yr deal in lieu of going to Arb. I suspect the Rangers made him an offer and told him he had until today to accept or they'd non-tender him, as well.

Of the 3 OF spots, I think LF is where you can deal with the weakest arm. RF has to get to 3B.

I don't think we have a RF, unless that's where Langford plays. I don't want Langford in CF. I think he'll get hurt too often.

I'm not sure Carter will be healthy enough to rely on.

Haggerty is a LF, IMO, maybe CF.

Duran isn't an OF, IMO.

Who knows. Maybe we'll get a surprise.

I told you guys months ago that Garcia was going to be a non tender candidate. I'm a little surprised to see it actually happen but the on field results totally justify the move.
DallasAg 94
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm willing to bet the Rangers made their Offer for Arb and told him if he wasn't interested, they'd be happy to try a trade, and if that didn't work, they'd let him go find out what others are willing to offer him as a FA.

It gives Adolis the ability to feel better about what he is worth and if ultimately he finds out the Rangers truly offered him fair comp, he may return... if a spot remains.

Well that wasn't exactly going out on a limb. Chris Young had done everything except come out and verbally state that it was going to happen.

I do not see any scenario where Garcia is an option to return. I don't think they want him. Like at all. He and Heim are the poster boys for the at bats that they do not want in the lineup. Jung was as well in 2025, but he has been a much more patient hitter in the past and he's still a young player. Having a new voice in the dugout could help him out a lot. Garcia and Heim are what they are and it's just not what this FO or coaching staff wants.
