That was a fun season!

Kept it interesting. Middle of the season was rough for Max. Good to see competition. No one else was even cost except Piastri. Happy for Lando. RB needs a legit driver in the other car to help their team.

Already looking forward to 2026, except Appletv.

If Max and Lando were tied in points who would have been champion.

I think Max since he picked up a win today. Max, Lando, and Oscar all had 7 wins prior to today. I believe total race wins is the tiebreaker after total points.

Fun season to follow along with!

Hope the new regulations next year allow for more interesting races.

I'll be interested to see how much the regulation changes shake up the field. If it's anything like 2022, we could see a very different competitive landscape next year.

I think McLaren would have ordered Piastri to give up second to Lando to ensure the title.

Just got a chance to watch the race. What a bush league reckless move Tsunoda made on Lando. Lando handled that expertly… that would have been an awful way for it to go down.

I could see something like that coming from a mile away when it became clear RB was going to use Yuki to hold up Lando.

Like many other things, Checo was much better at it, but it still wasn't good enough for Red Bull.

Really hoping that Hadjar can be a worthwhile teammate to Max next year. Lawson and Tsunoda were mostly useless.

Help an F1 noob understand what he did that was egregious?

Damn near ran the points leader of the road in an attempt to help his team mate win the championship.

So what exactly is allowed? I'm sure this will come off clueless, but if it's a team sport... why isn't his role in a race like this to literally try and slow down Lando? I'm assuming there's rules in place, but I was wondering what keeps him from just slowing down and waiting for Lando to come around every lap and get in front of him?

Yuki didn't just slow down. You are allowed to move once to block the car behind. IIRC, you can not move twice. Yuki moved twice and also forced a car off track. If he were to slow down and do this ever lap, he would become a lapped car. Lapped cars get a blue flag waved, indicating they must move off the racing line to let the leaders pass. If they don't they will get a penalty. If it is still egregious, I'm sure the stewards and FIA can DQ the car and team.

This was the part the broadcast crew said was a violation...you can only move over once out of your line to block, you can't zig zag back and forth

Yuki moved more than twice. It was terrible and very dangerous at that speed. I would not have minded a fine from F1.

I would guess the key to successfully slowing someone down is to take advantage of the slower, more impassible sections of the track, where the overtaking car has less options.

When you are trying to slow someone down on the longer, wider straightaway sections, it is much more dangerous with fewer options for blocking. Speed-wise, Yuki was not much of an obstacle to Lando, so he tried to resort to riskier blocking moves, resulting in the double and triple moves.

Others have covered it, but you can't "zig-zag" or wiggle the car back and forth. You can certainly try to block, but once you've made that move to block, you can't swerve back the other way.

His last swerve was so late that Lando had to leave the track, otherwise he would have been hit and knocked out of the race, at best and badly wrecked at worst. There are ways to do it, but Yuki is subtle as a sledge-hammer.

It would have been a brutal way to end a very competitive season-long points race.

Yuki got his super license dinged and RB got fined.

Yuki is garbage. Glad he's finally gone next year.

Just got home. Overall, Abu Dhabi GP remains one of my favorite experiences, they do it so well over there.
It's one of the two in the calendar with a support lane pitlane walk so you can get up close to F2 and F4. The concerts are always top talent and free, if you like the artist the golden circle is worth it, this year I only saw Metallica and that was enough for me. Free entry to a theme park, so I got to do Ferrari World and ride Formula Rossa (it was closed nearly the entire 2024), fastest coaster in the world, imo not as fun as rides like Velocicoaster in Orlando but it's because it's so damn fast they can't have you moving too much in the seat lol.

A taxi from Yas Mall to my airbnb in Dubai, an hour and 15 min ride, was about $48. Super easy to grab food at the end as well as the mall closes at midnight so everything is still open by the time you leave the track.

I've heard Qatar is a great experience so I'd consider that in the future. IMO, I'd take going to the Middle East than going to China again in a heartbeat.

Nothing for me until Canada (only gonna do race day there due to another thing in Dallas that same weekend).
