Bobby Shuttleworth has been hired as the next head soccer coach at Texas A&M.
Shuttleworth has spent four seasons as an assistant at national powerhouse Florida State under head coach Brian Pensky, helping the Seminoles win two national titles and being named the 2023 National Coach Staff of the Year after leading FSU to its first undefeated season in school history.
An official announcement from Texas A&M was posted on social media.
Shuttleworth takes over an A&M program that finished 2025 with a 5-7-5 overall record and a 2-6-2 mark in SEC play to finish 13th in the league. The Aggies missed the NCAA Tournament for the third time in five years and just the third time since 1994.
After the season, G Guerrieri — the program’s builder and only head coach in its history — announced his retirement after 33 years in Aggieland that saw him win 507 matches and lead the Aggies to 18 conference titles and 28 NCAA Tournaments.
The task of returning A&M soccer back to national prominence falls to Shuttleworth.
In 2025, the Seminoles went 16-2-4 with a 6-2-2 mark in ACC play. Marking the program’s 26th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, Florida State went on to win the national title by beating Stanford on Dec. 8, 1-0. It is the fifth national title in school history.
Pensky hired Shuttleworth before the 2022 season, and he was elevated to associate head coach before the 2024 campaign.
With Shuttleworth’s assistance, Florida State has won two national titles, two regular-season ACC titles and three ACC Tournament crowns.
A goalkeeper by trade, he coached third-team All-American Cristina Roque in 2023. That year, the Seminoles allowed just one goal in the NCAA Tournament and two total across the final 10 games of the year. Also honored as the 2022 ACC Goal Keeper of the Year and a two-time All-American, Roque owned a 0.62 goals-against average in 2023 and was drafted by the Utah Royals in the third round of the NWSL Draft.
Prior to his arrival in Tallahassee, Shuttleworth spent 14 years in the MLS. His career included stints with New England Revolution (2009-16), Minnesota United (2017-19), Chicago Fire (2020-21) and Atlanta United (2022). A goalkeeper, he ranks 13th all-time among MLS keepers in games played (232).
Originally from Tonawanda, New York, Shuttleworth played collegiately at hometown Buffalo, where he ranks first in career goals-against average (0.80) and third in career wins (21).
