They did it with a Heinkel and a Messerschmitt in Indiana Jones. Why not here with a helicopter?

Doesn't get much more Greek than Lupita Nyongo.

Or Matt Damon. What's your point?
My point is they are casting a fantastic actress like Nyongo who is also one of the most stunning women in the world and cramming her into maybe the 6th or 7th lead? How come she has to settle for that while Anne Hathaway is playing Penelope, the wife of Matt Damon's Odysseus?
My perception, which I realize it not shared by everyone, is that this is a "safe DEI" casting. You're not really saying that the every role is open to every actor regardless of their skin color. Because too many of your audience members would flip out if Idris Elba or Michael B. Jordan was Odysseus.
But if they fold a black woman into a minor role, they can have their cake and eat it too.

One of the most stunning women in the world? Come on dude, tap the brakes. She's not even the best looking gal in the movie

Is there going to be a separate non-spoiler thread for people who haven't gotten around to reading the Homer's epic poem in the last 2,700 years?

I spent an entire day with her once, in Malibu, like a year or so after The Devil Wears Prada came out. I was a production assistant on a cover shoot with her for Teen Vogue.

One of my jobs was to greet the "talent" when they arrived and take them to hair and makeup or wherever. Whereas most stars we worked with requested a car service to and from set, she rode shotgun in her assistant's Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I knew right then and there as she got out of the car and I shook her hand that she was going to be cool as ***** I ended up holding an umbrella over her head on the beach for a good chunk of the day, and she could not have been nicer or more down to earth. We chatted throughout the shoot and she even complimented my on-set playlist at one point.

Patrick Demarchelier was the photographer that day, and one of the most surreal moments was when Hathaway, from under my umbrella, re-enacted the scene from Prada - *to* Demarchelier himself - where Meryl Streep's character asks Hathaway's character, "Did Demarchelier confirm?" I was standing there barefoot in the sand on a weekday, next to one of the biggest up-and-coming stars on the planet, as she re-enacted a scene from her most famous movie, to one of the most famous photographers of all time, and all I could do was wonder how the hell I got there and how the hell I was actually getting paid to do this.

Anyway, that was a day I'll never forget, and I've loved Hathaway ever since.

And you are welcome to your opinion, it was just interesting when you proclaim someone that most people couldn't pick out of a lineup to be one of the most stunning women in the world. Especially in a movie with 2 all timers like Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron.

I've got nothing against either of those women. It's a personal opinion, but I'm definitely not alone in it.

True. But you stated it as a fact that she is "one of the most stunning women in the world." Your eye doesnt match a majority of other eyes, however. If you had said, "IMO, I find her to be one of the most stunning women in the world," then yes, your followup statement is applicable. But you stated something as fact, when instead, it is a fact that most people would disagree.

Ok, ill move on. Forgive me entertainment board, I apologize for derailing. Please carry on.

Actually I am, figured id follow up with this thread that I haven't had a chance to look at in a couple days since I have a few minutes waiting on a meeting. But you responded within minutes, so ill assume that you're more bored than I am.

Ok, no more responses to this silly point. I honestly don't like clogging up threads that have actual useful information, or at least has the potential to.

Production started in late February, so they've been filming for around four months now. That said, yeah, it's still way early, as we have another 13 months before the movie itself hits theaters. But Nolan is basically the one director who gets/loves to do these year-in-advance teasers. And that's all it will be - a teaser (not even a teaser trailer), roughly a minute to a minute-and-a-half in length. To give an idea of what to expect, here's every year-in-advance teaser (featuring actual footage from the movie) Nolan has ever released...
