We never had good enough pitching this season to begin with. With Coach Ford as our pitching coach, she needs to recruit a couple better pitchers than what we have had in the last 2 seasons .

Thank goodness we saved Lessentine and went to our 4th or 5th option on the mound in a tie game with runners and 1st and 2nd and 1 out in the 7th.

Tbf. Lessentine has not been great lately. She's good for 2-3 home runs a game.

Let's put a 5 game winning streak together and get to OKC!

I literally tuned in the 7th inning to watch tech lose.

The same pitcher gave up all 8 runs. The coach should be fired with a text message.

I'm all for better anything at every position, but we have every ability to go through AZ St.'s 8-9-1 in their batting order without falling apart. Mathis not turning her hips to run and get to the ball hit behind from the first batter of the inning just opened up the flood gates.

Would be funny if Tech still lost.

Blew their load yesterday. Classic, predictable outcome today.

Brought Canady back in to give up the lead again which is poetic.

Playing a "no doubles" defensive alignment protecting a 1 run lead very late includes deep outfielders. Should be automatic. The double would have been a loud out.

I'm still not understanding the Pannell pitching decision. We may not have the ace some want, but Pannell is clearly our 5th option.

I don't think the local media need to be jerks about it, but have they (will they) ask Coach Ford about the pitching choices? Just baffling to the vast majority of us. Would be interesting to hear her rationale though I recognize that we're not "owed" an explanation.

Won't come from anyone associated with this site. Liucci is currently putting people down on Twitter and saying "their daughter wasn't good enough to be recruited by Ford" to people calling out the fact we keep losing close games (blowing leads) in every big postseason game

Our opponent in tonight's elimination game will be the winner between 3 seed McNeese and 4 seed UConn.

UConn leads McNeese 3-0 headed to the bottom of the 5th.

McNeese is the home team and will bat in the bottom of the inning.

I honestly don't see a consistent pattern of late game failures. Blowing leads isn't a hallmark of this program under Ford. Sure, it happens, but it's not something that is ingrained in this program.

What IS a pattern, however, is failing to advance in the postseason as a favorite. And that's even more disturbing to me than blowing a save from time to time.

If we lose a second consecutive regional in we are hosting, Ford is going to have to take a serious look at herself and the program. This isn't just a pitching problem either. It's not just here that it's happened, it happened at ASU as well.

To say the least, it's really important that we pull this out somehow tonight and tomorrow. This team is capable of doing it. We'll see if they pull it off.

Liucci has taken more ballsacks to his face than he's seen A&M championships

Don't say this too loud, you'll have staff saying your kids aren't good enough to go to school here.

I hope Ford proves us all wrong the next 24 hours. But it's absolutely a pattern at this point in her career with only one common denominator

I didn't know about her postseason troubles. A quick look shows that in her last 2 years at Arizona St. they hosted regionals both years. So, very good regular seasons. Then in one of the years, they lost a home regional and the other year they won the home regional but lost the home super regional.

I didn't get to watch the game, so I have no opinion on whether or not going to Pannell was the right move.
I agree with others that have said, Coach Ford has got to have a bigger budget to get at least one but ideally two great pitchers. Then you have to be able to pay for good solid fielders that hit with consistency.

But she went to our 5th best pitcher with the game on the line. So, perhaps, we need 5 great pitchers.

I went and looked at it in more depth after last year's debacle.

Her program has hosted a regional or super regional 8 times now. Before this year, she was 4-3 in those. If they lose tonight or tomorrow it will make it 4-4.

Thats not a very good hit rate. The super regionals don't bother me as much as hosting a regional and not getting out of it. That's already happened twice, once as the number 1 overall national seed.

I really hope they pull it off.
