I don't think Jordan is ready to leave Auburn so soon after getting there.

I'm not sure what these two posters are up to.... KIKIAggies859's post is a word for word copy of one of my posts a few pages back referencing Stanford making another run at Mark.

Probably best to ignore both of them.

Anyone else think Lulu has the power to take over #2 or #1 singles for us this year? Curious if her WTA results carry over to the spring season

No. Nicole is absolutely the #1 player on our team. Lulu has had great success in itf tournaments but you have to keep in perspective that they are South American tournaments. while they have the same amount of points associated per level of tournament, the level of competition at those tournaments is far lesser than the competition in europe and the US
Ag4eva95

Fair assessment. What about #2 though? Feel like Lu and Mia could battle it out for that spot. Any lineup predictions?

Mia will be out #2, unless lu added a major weapon to her arsenal. the difference between the usual players that play 2 vs 3 is pretty distinct. If your playing too 2 you really have to have weapons to put the ball away easy. Mia while she can grind it out has bigger weapons in her serve and forehand. Lu is a natural clay court player and likes the ball coming slower, that's not the reality of playing the 2 line at a high level.

*i don't want this to sound like i'm dogging on Lu, I love Lu. i've been on her court during home matches the last 2 years. However, I do believe Mia is the better option, and the more proven one at that.

IMO - this will all depend on Nicole's health. At her best, she can beat anyone (can't seem to get over that hump against Lopata who should be Georgia's #1 this year). This is an observation, and purely speculative from what I've seen...but, I question if Nicole truly loves tennis or if she's just incredibly talented and going thru the motions to pursue her education. When you watch Mary, Lu, Mia, etc, you can tell their hearts are really in it and they live for the sport. Nicole doesn't seem to have that fire -- although, that might just be her personality. Please know, this is not a knock on Nicole. Really one of my favorite players.

1-3 should be very solid for us this year; we should be much better in doubles, I think. The question will come down to lines 4, 5, and 6...We have 4-5 girls that could fill those spots.

Can't even speculate a lineup...anyone want to give it a try?

From what I have seen, heard, and what others have seen, that is kind of her personality. I think we have seen some fire from her in the past in big moments, though.

Yeah - for sure - on the court during important matches she is dialed in. Just wondering if she has the drive to pursue tennis after college?

W35 San Rafael - QF action

WHEW !!!

Lulu defeats Madison Sieg 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

She definitely worked for the win! Down 1-3 in the first set she came back to win. Up 4-2 in the second set but she lost 4-6. Back and forth in the third set but, down only once, 1-2, she came through.

Talking about favorite players? I like them all. But tend to watch the newer players most when I have video. Last season was Lex and this season will be Lex and the newest players. However, Nicole AND Mia are often a treat to watch. A lot of natural talent there. So watch them a lot, too.

I think Lulu is the most fiery and passionate of all. From scowls that would frighten a murderer to huge grins that make everyone smile she never leaves her emotions 'on her sleeve'.

W15 Varna - No action recently. I think it has been raining over there but supposed to clear up. I hope they finish the tournament.

Lulu has had some of the most clutch finishes in our history.

At Tenn in '24 after being down match points and then '25 to beat Georgia and win the SEC title.

Not to mention the tear she went on in the NCAA tourney in '24. She won singles and doubles in the final win over Georgia. Even the indoor courts weren't stopping her that day.

W35 San Rafael - Semifinal

Lulu scheduled to play Johanne Svendsen. The other SF is Lea Ma vs Madison Brengle.

W15 Varna - Quarterfinals (still !!!)

Rain still causing delays. Currently two QF's started but 'interrupted' in the 4th game of the first set. Forecast shows might clear up today. Sunday expected to be sunny but then rain forecasted for the next several days. Yoana still scheduled to play Alexia Lavinia Puiac.

[I will not mention how great it is to have indoor courts available !!! Wait, did I just say that ?!?!]

W15 Varna - Quarterfinals

Just finished - Yoana defeats Alexia Lavinia Puiac 6-0, 7-6.

She will face Anastasija Cvetkovic in the SF. IF she wins the SF, a very good chance she will face Eva Bennemann (she won her QF today 6-1, 6-3), a young and very talented German girl.

W35 San Rafael - Semifinal

Lulu was ahead 6-1, 2-0 when her opponent retired.

#1 seed Lea Ma and Madison Brengle (Q) have started playing in the other SF, currently 2-2 in the first set. Madison has upset the #4 and #5 seeds to reach the SF.

W35 San Rafael - Semifinal

Gosh, 35 yo Madison Brengle has been eating her Wheaties - she just upset the #1 seed 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), third consecutive upset of a top #5 seed !!

Lu and Madison will face off in the final.

W15 Varna

Yoana fell in the semifinal to Anastasija Cvetkovic 5-7, 2-6.

In the final, Eva Bennemann, the young German girl, just won the first set, 7-5, over Anastasija. No livestream of the match but would be a good one to see.

Sooo, after a lot of tennis this week only one Aggie or Aggie recruit left, Lulu in the W35 San Rafael final today.

W35 San Rafael - Final

Darn it to heck.

Lulu fell to the woman who beat three Top 5 seeds to get to the final, Madison Brengle, by a score of 6-7 (9-11) , 0-6.

Lu had several set points in the first set, including in the tie breaker, but Madison kept coming back.

Second set not competitive at all. Darn it. Well, she made a good run in the tournament - way to go, Lu !!!
