Answering my own question - it does. Against 25 yo WC Marina Bassols from Spain.

I am pretty darn sure she is gone but let one of the 'insiders' on here confirm it. I vaguely recall she transferred to SMU and that made sense at the time because she is from Highland Park but did a quick search and it shows she went to Santa Clara.
Last year's roster page was probably used as a template for this year and she was probably just 'missed' when it was updated and was left on.
SOOO, I think we are still at 9 on the roster with one scholarship open.

Does this open a scholarship for a spring transfer?

I believe we have 2 open. I am positive they are trying to find girls to fill those spots. Be patient...

National signing day is only about three months away and we lose some outstanding talent after this year so I am sure the coaching staff is really 'scouring' away already. Heck, they probably do it all year.
Sooo, you should be able to resist the desire knowing our excellent coaching staff is doing it for you.

LOL, I believe wholeheartedly that that is the LAST thing Mark, James or Tommy need from any of us. I have to believe that they have their finger on the pulse of all that's available. The spring before Mary showed up Mark comes over to me and says, "We have just gotten verbal commitment from a girl whose going to be even better than CSQ." And I'll be dog, he was exactly right. My father could look at an animal and know instantly if that animal would ever have a chance in the show ring, and he was right way over 90% of the time. Mark I believe has the same gift to see young women being able to develop in top notch players and PEOPLE that we would all be proud of.

I should have put a smiley face after my comment about not needing to search for talent yourself and that the awesome staff is doing it every day. The 'scouring' part was tongue-in-cheek and the staff for all sports is always on the look out for talent. And I am sure it ramps up before signing day and when the transfer portal times are approaching.
I had a great smile when you wrote that you would not show up at Mark's office with a folder full of suggestions because I almost wrote that one of us should do that !!
One of the reasons I really dig the tennis threads is that you guys know a LOT more about tennis in general and Aggie tennis in particular than I do so I learn a LOT just by reading what you guys write - thank you !!
The most I generally do is look at the ranking sites for HS players and read about the higher ranked ones. Great at singles or doubles or both? Are they committed somewhere? Etc.
HOWEVER, because the transfer portal has changed college sports so darn much looking at rankings and stats of college players is just as important as HS talent so I am slowly doing that, too.
AND, and I am REALLY excited about this, we are only six days away from the first tournament !!!!!

Frankie, Bobby K made the comment one time that he is talking to potential talent literally every day of the year. It's just heavier at certain times of the year.

Wrote just a few minutes ago about the W35. Have commented before about it being great that A&M supports their players competing in pro tournaments and how this helps with recruiting. Heck, it can only make the players better and that certainly helps the team.
My question for you guys - how common is this in this country? Do most (or all) of the big tennis programs do the same thing? I could see where some would support only upperclassmen.
Just curious !!
Thanks !!
