It's the fall. Not screwed at all.

That has been the story with Nicole her entire college career. Even when she was at t.u. Nothing new

She had to re-register her forehand as a dangerous weapon and is just waiting for the paperwork to go through. New season and all.

Quick note about the girl that beat Lulu today in straight sets, Yoana beat her back in July. Take that for what it's worth in considering our recruits' level of play.

Mary wins 6-0, 6-2, advances to QF. Only two of the games in the second set were short. Her opponent made her earn the set, unlike the first set.

Note that four of the eight top seeds lost in the first round, three in Mary's half of the bracket - Mary beat the #1 seed in the first round whilst #3 Cadence Brace and #6 Fiona Crawley both lost.

This makes her path to the Semifinals easier but she still has to win to get there - she will do it !!

Sorry, cannot tell you about the tape because I could not find live video of the match and simply followed it via point-by-point live update. Not as great as watching the video but still pretty good. This is often the case and why I am always appreciative when someone posts links to videos for matches.

That said, Kayla Day knocked off the #2 seed, leaving only three top eight seeds left, and all the QF matches are set.

Her left thigh is taped. Quite a lot of tape.

Mary loses first set, 4-6. Takes a medical timeout after the set, returns without tape on her thigh.

Hmmmm .... Mary won first game of second set. Then both players walked over and shook hands with the chair and that's it. Apparently Mary retired. Hope she is OK !!

Mary was playing average but her shots and serves were often far out, not 'just out'. Her average play was not good enough. No idea how much her thigh caused her poor play.

Her opponent is pretty good. Really good serve. Second serve percentage really high.
