Mary advances to the finals with a 6-1, 6-1 win. She will face Japan's Hontama in the finals.

Correct me if this is incorrect, but I believe this is Mary's 1st time winning a pro event.

There was one tournament last year where Mary made the finals and was to play Iva Jovic but the final's match was cancelled due to the rain plagued week of delays.

She won a W50 in Spring in 2025 and a W75 in Edmond in 2024. The W75 was a huge win.

She also gets an automatic wildcard to the ATX Open. Not too shabby.

I hope they move this tournament back to the spring time! The dead are only based off of fall results, nothing else. The seeding is trash. It's crazy the thought process of this

FYI Violeta is on court 5. She won the first set 6-4

Currently down 1-4 in the second. Good player. Happy to have her. Let's see if she can turn it around.

Final: after a promising start, Violeta can't get back on top losing 6-4, 2-6, 1-6. Mark was noticeably frustrated (as was Violeta). My assessment - Violeta is a great counter puncher. Left way too many balls short and into the big tall lefties strike zone. Keeping the ball low (slice) or deep to the backhand would have been the move. Needs to work on her passing shots as she wasn't able to capitalize by getting Llewelyn to the net. I could see her playing line 6 (maybe). Tough to know.

And Mia got a crummy draw. Dang.

The match in Spring of 2025 was the weekend we played the sips in Austin and Mary elected to take her chances with the weather and missed the sips match that we won being basically 2 players short.

Mia and Daria having a tough day. Lost Set 1 6-2 and down 4-0 in Set 2.

Lost Set 2 6-2. No matches until January 16.

i don't think Mark should play Mia/Daria together. I really liked what i saw from Daria and Lex in the NCAA tournament last year. i also think they complement each other really well. I think Lulu and Mia is a much better pairing than mia/daria. I also really like the idea of Vi/Nicole and think Vi balances Nicole really well. I do think if someone besides these 6 play doubles it will be Luciana Moyano, she's won multiple pro tournaments in doubles and has made other deep runs as well.

Agree - this isn't a good match. No chemistry. Hit or miss tennis. Lu and Nicole played well together. Lexington/Vi? IDK.

a former top 15 junior. yes she will play for us this year. Mark wouldn't have added her in January if she wasn't going to make an immediate impact. I actually think our 5-8 will be the strongest it's ever been. Where i think we are most vulnerable is our 1-4. It's very possible that we sweep at those positions against good teams but it's unlikely imo. I think if Nicole has a rough day we are going to need someone to really step up in a big way in order to compete against the top teams this year. I think we are a top 8 team and i think we have the ability to win it all and beat anyone, but can we considerably play up to that level is the question.

I agree with this. We are good but the most vulnerable we've been in years at the top. The top college tennis is good this year. UGA, LSU, Michigan, OSU, UNC, Auburn, Duke. Even schools like Oklahoma, USC, Texas are going to be very very strong. We are a top 10 team, but women's tennis is as competitive as it's ever been. I don't think there is a clear favorite to win!
