also heard Prema F2 will be Herta and Taponen. What is Herta even doing in F2, no clue, but is a bad look for Indy and also hope that the same people that make fun of Boschung or Verschoor for being old do the same to Herta, if he didn't crack the SL before he has no business trying to do it in F2

Herta in F2? For superlicense I assume but surprised he would do that.

Herta just announced as Cadillac test driver and IndyCar has announced he is not racing next year.

Now I wonder which comes next, Prema or MP ...

EDIT: It is now confirmed he is racing in Europe in 2026

And Will Power to Andretti. Seems like Andretti about to use its IndyCar team as its own F3 series development program.

It's only Day 1 but Monza is honestly a lot, it's pretty hard to navigate to and it's very sunny, water queues were like 5 min long today and people say on Sundays it could take 30 min. Hard to find porta potties as well and most of the people working the grandstands only speak italian. I was able to find the path the F2/F3 people take to exit so at least that was good lol, tomorrow I'll have a pass from MP Motorsport at around 11 am so i'll just roam around the f2/f3 area rest of the day.

This sounds like the most Italian thing ever. Don't be surprised if random concessions or merch stations aren't open because they just didn't feel like it.

Bortoleto is quick over one lap. Hulkenburg is generally thought of as a quick qualifier and he is routinely at his level or better.

the trains are a mess too, they just tell direct you to any line that stops in Milan. I take Central-Monza every morning but every evening I go back to some random station and then have to take the metro to Central to then take my bus to the airbnb.

this GP is honestly humbling me since the last ones i've done were accessible tracks (Zandvoort public transport is fantastic) but at least if I ever decide to do Spa or Austria i might be a little bit more ready by then lol

And the announcers during the ceremony "we hope those aren't jeers for Lando"

No no, of course not. Why would anyone think that?

Rare occasion where I was able to finish a European race before church. Seemed like zero interruptions because Hulk got out pre-race and Alonso retired in the pits.

Today was stated as the fastest race of all time.

I am back at work now beating the jet lag and catching up on movie releases rest of the week.

Overall, I REALLY enjoyed Zandvoort, and while Monza was great, I don't see myself going back anytime soon. Zandvoort I stayed in Amsterdam, trains run every 5 minutes and then the rest of the trams are quick as well, it was very easy to get home.

Monza is a whole different story. Train from Central to Monza is 10 min, then you get the shuttle from there to Monza, which starts at 7:30 AM, and takes around 20 mins with no traffic to get to the track, then you walk like 10-15 min to the gate ... so it was pretty late to get there for F3 on Sunday. Getting back was worse as the line was brutal and you have until 8:30 PM to get the shuttle, then there was a line outside to get to the station which took like 30 mins lol.

Monza is also old and personally I found it hard to navigate the first two days, then it was ok, but it's all dirt, and the bridges get so much more busy than Miami.

The F1 race was very boring, and it being the fastest of all time is not something to be proud of imo. F3 was fantastic and F2 was a royal rumble out there but so damn happy I got to see Luke Browning's first win.

Next year I will return to Silverstone as imo it's as historical and much better logistics wise. Zandvoort would be phenomenal to go to again especially with it being the last time they race there but I do want to prioritize doing a new one, which will probably be Jeddah as it has F2 and F1 Academy.

Also, if you have AMEX, they are really coming through at these races now. There was an expedited gate entrance for AMEX holders, EXTREMELY helpful especially on race day. And of course the free radios at every race.

They also have presales for GPs now and not just the US ones.

i was gonna gatekeep this but you can have a laugh as well lol

They had a briefing before where they explain the track and all that, then Jacques Villenueve comes in and tells us why Monza is a fun track, the high speeds, the cornering. I saw the list of drivers on the screen and I think the most famous name in there was Marc Gene (who was just announced last monday that will be in charge of the Ferrari Driver Academy), but I also recognized Fred Vesti (the real F2 2023 champ imo), Paul Aron (Alpine reserve, in F2 last year), and Tuukka Taponen (in F3 this year, Ferrari Driver Academy member since 2022, him and Aurelia Nobels were the last to get membership for like 2 years until this summer). I actually went around the Ferrari guests see if anyone wanted to swap with me as I wanted Tuukka but no luck lol. I did notice there was some lady with an entourage but I couldn't recognize who she was so I just assumed she was famous.

All I can say is you better not eat before it. The braking is very rough and on the last corner I couldn't sit straight as I was leaning to the side and was pushing my best to stay in the middle.
