Pretty nice RPI changes after Wednesday's win over Baylor. Texas St. also beat Texas Tech.

Ags move up to 15. And will play #13 Mississippi St this weekend.

Tech drops to #10 and could be looking at going on the road in a Super Regional if they don't climb back k to the top 8.

AUSL coming to Davis Diamond! Wonder if we'd get a chance to see Lefty pitch in CSTAT again!

I don't see a scenario where Tech gets left out of a top 8 seed if they finish the season at 9 or 10 in the RPI. I think they can even slip a bit lower than that.

Just got an email for donor presale tickets, tickets on sale today. I assume they are for our existing seat location? Most expensive all-session seats are $172.

I'm curious, why you think they should be given a pass? They have lost to Utah and Texas St. in the past week and haven't played a great schedule.

Congrats to Texags for getting the press release and breaking the story 19 minutes before the official release by AUSL and A&M!

It's not what I think should happen. It's what I think will happen. I just highly doubt the committee is going to leave last year's runner-up with the likely National Player of the Year in the circle out of the top 8 if they finish with an RPI in the top 10.

The presale is for all donors, and is not linked to any softball season ticket locations.

There are less options left for all-access, but there are a lot more available for single games. ex: sections 103/107 have no seats for all session purchase, but a lot open for individual games.

Time change for this weekend

Quote:

Due to expected inclement weather this weekend, No. 11 Texas A&M softball has adjusted Friday and Saturday's game times in its series again No. 14 Mississippi State.

Friday's series opener has been moved to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday's game has been moved up to 11:00 a.m. Sunday's game three is still set for 1:00 p.m.

I just ordered two tickets and couldn't get my season tickets. I thought I had till 10 am Friday to decide and my tickets would be there but that was not the case.

Ok, so we get the series today, how does a sweep and the next two series lock up a top 8? What do we need to do to host a super and not have to go through Austin or Norman to get to Ok City?

If we sweep Miss St, our RPI will probably be somewhere around 12-13 heading into the last two series.

Realistically I don't think top 8 is in the cards this year. However, since it's fun to game this stuff out, if we sweep Carolina, win the OU series and finish in the Top 2 of the league, then win the SEC tournament I think we would lock up a top 8 seed. Maybe even if we do the above, except not win the tournament but make the final.

Right now I think a 10-12 seed is there for the taking. Winning the next two series should do that, or sweeping Carolina and winning 1 of the OU series games. Getting 10-12 seed likely keeps us out of Austin or Norman should we make it out of our regional.

Given how this team began the season, that would be an incredible finish and probably put Ford in the conversation for coach of the year. I was pretty negative on this thread before the start of SEC play, but this team has found their identity and is thriving within that right now. It's a lot of fun to see.

Now that we have swept MSU and are only 1 game out of first place in the SEC, are the 12 losses keeping us out of the top 8 national seed, or will they look at our conference record?

Our conference record would be the reason why we'll be in the conversation, so it'll definitely be looked at.

Projecting forward I'm pretty confident that we'll host a regional, barring a bad weekend at Carolina. Oklahoma is going to be tough, though, and we really need to find a way to get at least 1 win in that series to lock up a host.

We have 8 non conference losses, including at least 1 Quad 3 loss, and that's going to be what keeps us out of a Top 8 seed. It would really take quite a run to end the season to get over that hump. Sweeping Carolina, winning 2 of 3 against OU and winning the SEC tournament wouldn't be impossible but I would certainly not bet money on doing that.

My 2 cents

Only winning out would get us in top 8

Only losing out would stop us from hosting.

The question is where we land in 9-16 range and who that matches us up with.

Probably a few long shot chances at an 8 seed but not worth losing sleep over

I dont think we would have to sweep OU. Win the series and you get a top 8 seed.

All the teams ranked ahead of us in the have half our losses currently. Tech and Duke have 12 losses and are ahead in RPI.

I think winning out will possibly make room for us in the top 8 but not losing 12 would have helped more…

Yes there is a chance with a road sweep of USCe and 2 of 3 against OU. That would also make likely make us the 1 seed in SEC tournament.

We already have more quad 1 games than any RPI top 25 team. That scenario would make us 17-11 in quad1 games.

Even then 13 losses is a higher number for top 8 national seed. I have the resumes from the past several seasons saved on my office computer so I will see if anyone has that number.

For now I am just enjoying the ride and don't count us out of making OK City no matter where we play. I can guarantee no one wants to see us on the schedule right now

For some prospective

Last year 17-7 won the regular season. The Ags currently sit at 14-4.

19-5 won the regular season for the 4 years previous to OU and tu joining the league

So winning 5 of 6 should get at least a share of the title

I haven't even looked yet but I just feel like there has been more parity among the top 15-20 teams this season than any in my memory.

I looked the records from last year. Florida and Tenn both had 13 losses in the regular season and got a top 8 national seed. However all the losses were quad 1. In 2024 Mizzou got a 7 seed with 14 losses(probably not deserved).

So it does happen that teams with that many losses get a national seed

#11 in RPI now. Still in great shape to host a regional, need to win this weekend's road series at South Carolina. Aggies should take care of business as long as they don't look ahead to OU.

We won series on road vs LSU (10), and Oregon (8) and UCLA (9) still have a series against each other last weekend of season.

Just keep winning ladies!

RPI Thru 4/19/2026 (thru SEC Week 7)

The SEC continues to hold the top 4 spots in RPI and 6 of the top 7 (with Nebraska being the other team in that top 7). Big movers this week were Texas A&M (up 7 spots) after sweeping Mississippi St. And LSU (up 6 spots) after sweeping Ole Miss. Georgia is down 4 spots even though they have split the first two games of their series with Texas with the series finale coming up tonight. Georgia was hurt from a mid-week win over Kennesaw St. (7-36 overall record, #223 RPI).

Another RPI weirdness. Ole Miss is 25-5 in non-conference games. When I started doing this in SEC week 1, Ole Miss was RPI #22. Ole Miss has a 2-16 SEC record (now 27-21 overall). And they have fallen 1 spot in the RPI during that time from #22 to #23. They have faced #2 Texas, #3 Alabama, #6 Oklahoma, #7 Tennessee, #10 LSU, and #11 Texas A&M. They took 2 of 3 at Tennessee and have been swept in the rest. The close SEC play with #29 Auburn and #18 Mississippi St.

Our Aggies have two series remaining in the regular season: 1) at #28 South Carolina this weekend and 2) at Davis next weekend against #6 Oklahoma.

Movement as compared to last week listed in parenthesis after ranking.

RPI - SEC Schools
1 - (-) Arkansas
2 - (+1) Texas (road, series complete, Ags lose series 1-2)
3 - (-1) Alabama
4 - (-) Florida
6 - (+1) Oklahoma (home, April 30-May 2)
7 - (-1) Tennessee
10 - (+6) LSU (road, series complete, Ags win series 2-1)
11 - (+7) Texas A&M
14 - (-4) Georgia (home, series complete, Ags win series 2-1)
18 - (-7) Mississippi St. (home, series complete, Ags sweep 3-0)
23 - (-) Ole Miss (road, April 10-12, Ags sweep series 3-0)
28 - (-) South Carolina (road, April 24-26)
29 - (+1) Auburn
45 - (-) Missouri
48 - (+2) Kentucky (home, series complete. Ags sweep 3-0)

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but which body determines the top 8? I don't know which list to watch.
