Kind of surprised we didn't move at all with win on the road at number 1 rpi. Those losses don't really hurt your rpi much although winning the series would have helped. I guess with Kentucky taking such a tumble that balanced out the win in Austin

Good opportunity to leapfrog Georgia in polls and SEC standings this week.
Looking at the forecast for this weekend, unless things change drastically Saturday looks like a washout. I'm wondering if they would make Friday a double header?

Trisha Ford said in her TexAgs interview yesterday a few interesting things about baserunning. She said they did a lot of baserunning drills on Tuesday. Also mentioned the players had a team meeting regarding mistakes in the field and that the theme of that convo was coaching was half the equation and that execution was on the players.
Pitching wise, Ford mentioned she talked to Lessentine about resiliance. Took Kavan getting shelled all weekend, but still showed success, as an example. Said she is working on developing Lessentine's mindset given she's a sophmore. Also mentioned Bo Jackson saying baseball was harder than football because of the mindset of hitting.
Looking at Georgia: they hit well, lots of left handed hitting. Looks foward to difficult SEC opponents every week.

I would guess we play 2 on Friday but they will hold out until the last minute to tell us. Since the Saturday game is scheduled to be on the SEC Network they won't want to scrap a national broadcast too early. As a fan it is maddening to know the likely hood is they will play 2 on Friday but not tell us until Thursday night or Friday morning. For people who are coming from out of town it will likely be too late to cancel hotel rooms by the time they decide.

Wish base running errors were not continuing like the bottom of the first with two on and only 1 out.

I am not sure what to think about the baserunning. Yes, we are getting thrown out a lot but I don't want us to just go super conservative to avoid getting thrown out. What kills me is the the mental mistakes like Perez had when leaving 3rd base when the runner from home was getting run back from home.
Listening on the radio as I'm traveling for the weekend. Radio announcer said it was a mental mistake by Mya. I am MP's biggest fan, but I'll be the first to say she's probably our weakest base runner. Think she got caught up in the moment and made it worse. At least it was in the first inning. But man, these mistakes will lose games
I'm 100 with ya on that. Think the mishaps are a combination of aggressive base running paired with poor execution. Think Ford wants to push the action and is coaching the hell out of them to get in positions to score. And with our lack of production with RISP, it's magnifying the base running issues.
Agree with you. I attend all three games of this series. Huge fan of Mya. Just don't understand why we have these base running errors over and over again. Fix them and we are a good team that can play with anyone. Don't correct them, and we can lose to anyone.

I will not do a full RPI update until all of the weekend SEC series are over with the game on Monday night between Arkansas and Auburn, but a quick check of the games thru the Georgia series shows that we have moved from 23 to 19 in the RPI so far this week while Georgia fell from 8 to 10.
At #19 we could actually start discussing what a path to the top 16 and hosting a regional might look like. It really just means continuing to stack positive weekends.

Long way to go, but finishing a 12 or 13 seed for the playoffs would be huge for this team. Every remaining team on schedule is currently 32 or higher (mostly higher) in RPI even though Baylor lost last night to Lamar.
Not that anyone cares, but Tennessee lost their entire basketball team ( those eligible for next year) to the portal. Can't imagine what that feels like.
Anyone have a pair of tickets to McNeese game they won't be using tomorrow? We have season tickets but are also taking my 85yr old parents to their first softball game. Can be anywhere they will be sitting in accessible area.
