Fully support Ken Paxton failing upwards out of having any real authority over the average Texan.

But in the general? A lot of voters will have to hold their noses to vote for Paxton. (I am not in that grup but after watching the crap that went on in his failed impeachment trial, have concerns.

Who has announced on the Dem side?

Man, I can't wait to vote against that RINO turncoat Cornyn.

Paxton will be a real conservative Senator from Texas to go along with Ted Cruz.

I'm perfectly fine with that idiot going to Washington. I'm glad he isn't running for Governor.

Didn't protect us Texans during Abbott's roughshod run over us during weakass COVID. Both he and Cornyn suck.

If the tariffs (excluding china) don't get rolled back soon I hope they both lose.

As RINO as he is, Cornyn will win in a landslide against any Dem. The vast majority of GOP will vote for him as will the moderates and independents. Even most of the folks on here that hate him will reluctantly vote for him.

But, Paxton will be more controversial than Cruz (who shouldn't be controversial, but whatever, that's another thread so argue that there). Which will make his election tight like Cruz v Beto. That means money will need to be poured into the election to ensure the GOP wins - money that could otherwise be spent on more important things...

I think Cornyn would win on autopilot just because people just vote for the incumbent. Not as sure about Paxton. Probably closer than Cornyn.

This is my point.

A Cornyn that votes 92% with the GOP is better than potentially losing to a Dem and getting 0%...

Exactly what evidence do you have for any of this?

In 2022, Paxton, with the same voters voting in the election that will be voting in the Senate election (relatively speaking), won by 9+% and won 233 counties.

In 2018, he won by 3.5 percent, which was better than Cruz that year.

In 2014, he won by over 20%.

In the latter 2 elections, people (mostly) knew about the allegations. I would venture, AT WORST, in a hypothetical 2026 general, he'd win by 5%, barring catastrophic politics between now and then.

F Cornyn. He voted with the Dems on gun control.

John Cornyn will probably win the primary because people usually vote for the incumbent. If Cornyn wins the primary, he will likely beat a Democrat by double digits.

Can't believe nobody strong has the cajones to run against that RINO. As weak as Paxton is, he'd have my vote.

In 2020, Cornyn won by 10% against a relatively decent candidate. In 2014, he won by 27%.

Paxton has a lot more negatives that can be exploited by the Democrats in an election. Which, AGAIN, means that resources that could be used ELSEWHERE have to be used to defend a SAFE Senate seat.

NOTE: I am not endorsing Cornyn. I'm just saying that PAXTON is a BAD choice to push as a replacement. Pick someone that is not as controversial - that doesn't have the baggage that Paxton has.

Don't take an election that will need minimal resources and turn it into an election that needs a big infusion of funding to ensure the win.

F Cornyn. He voted with the Dems on gun control.
And if you pick a bad candidate and he loses, he'll vote with the Dems on EVERYTHING.

I'm not saying Cornyn is great. He's a mushy Republican.

BUT, he's not controversial to most people. Which makes him more attractive to voters in the middle. Which, you actually need to win...

I was able to talk with Paxton at length last year. I voted for Gohmert in the Primary but Paxton in the runoff against Bush. After talking to him, he definitely has my vote. He's very down to earth and done a great job overall as AG.
