Watching and listening to O'Connor talk during this Insider episode makes me so sad thinking about what we could have had.

We just beat him. And have you met Coach Earley?

Are you saying you would rather have Earley?

Yes.

OConnor is a known commodity, nobody knows what Earley is yet
..The history of the world is that of religion. Violent faith, in either God or Man has shed an endless river of blood. It is not a matter of what you can live without, but which allows you the freedom to be indifferent..

I might rather have Earley in 5-8 years. But today he's very outmatched by most coaches in our league.

Then again doc gives them money and I don't, so I don't get a say.

Honest question... If you had an anonymous ranking of every head coach in the SEC, where would ME be?

I'll put my money on the 12-14 range.

This year, he's been better than most, with virtually no pitching. Third in the SEC is no small feat with the arms he has. I think he's figuring it out and has made great strides this year and hopefully will get some arms, with the opening of the new pitching lab. If he continues to put together elite offenses and the pitching comes around, we'll revisit how many folks wanted him gone, in a year or two.
Hustle, hit, never quit!

Assuming South Carolina makes a good hire I would have ME at 13 or 14. Vol and Mizzou coaches below him. And maybe UK coach but this is more bc I don't like him.

Another rain delay in Hoover. Time to move it somewhere else

Rain falls everywhere, unless you are suggesting an in door stadium.
There is only one constant, one universal, it is the only real truth: causality. Action. Reaction. Cause and effect.

Field looks *horrible*. Like the entire outfield is under standing water.

Maybe a domed stadium is a solution.

How far is it from Hoover to Tuscaloosa or to Auburn. Maybe move the game there.

I'm not a fan of the Hoover Met but there is no place in the SEC footprint that you can avoid weather in the middle of May. Eff any idea of moving it indoors.

C•USA Sun Belt was forced to move some of their games to Troy's park in order to keep that tournament somewhat on schedule. Even so, one of the semifinal games was played this morning. Maybe move the final to Regions Field?

They should plant some rice in right field.

Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros are the only 2 ball clubs in the south with indoor stadiums. Not sure if they could be used for SEC tournaments because of MLB play. Mercedes Benz Stadium could be used, but that would be a lackluster ball game experience.

So unless the SEC want to spend money on a covered field. Rain will be part of the tournament experience.

Forgot they have a covered field. Still thinking of their old one.

Did you watch any of the Big XII Tournament when it was held there? Completely lifeless. You may say the SEC is not the Big XII which is fair but a crowd even a crowd of 10,000 in such a park looks miniscule and sounds quiet in a large ballpark.

They have a retractable roof but plastic grass/dirt. Go figure.

Nope, plastic grass but real dirt. MLB requires dirt where dirt should be. I would be OK with artificial turf in college parks if the NCAA required the same.

lol, I was thinking the same. Was checking to see if the Arky-Georgia game had an updated time yet, and I'm going WTH? Maybe she had a long night last night and she is wearing part of the drapes from the hotel room?

I think it should be at Busch Stadium! It's a stunningly beautiful park. There are plenty of hotels within walking distance to the park and tons of parking for tailgating. It doesn't rain less in STL than Hoover, but the field is newer, nicer, and can drain something like 3" per hour.

I've seen a few incidents this year of sliding players turning up the "dirt" carpeting. Agree that at least the dirt areas should be real if just for this reason.

Which is why they would host a college baseball tournament. No MLB team with real grass is going to do it.

They do it for cost, but IMO, it's unsafe to not have dirt sliding boxes, and mildly unsafe to have a warning track that isn't actually a change of surface for the outfielders. It's also butt ugly.

I know you all want it moved, but honestly with a one-and-done format, moving to a city and using an MLB domed stadium will increase the costs and decrease the family atmosphere. Part of the fun of Hoover is watching the fans, including the little ones, really get into tournament baseball.

Watching dog piles on the slopes of The Met berms would be no more. And then what would we do without natural slip-and-slide events? Can't kill the fun!
