I still have an irrational hate for Ant because of that Adam Sandler movie, but his comments after game 1 were a big sign of respect. I just wish it would have inspired Joker and Luka. No one is touching that team if those two play.
His personality is not everyone's cup of tea for sure, but I like Ant a lot. He is always itching for the big moment, is almost never one to try and play the refs instead of playing the game, and maintains both a clear competitive intensity and loyal support to his teammates.

In today's game Dave would basically be Giannis. Unfortunately the world of 90s basketball forced him to be a center and to play that role on a daily basis but he had so much more he could have been if positionless basketball had been in vogue back then.
I have great memories of those teams, but in retrospect it's hard to imagine that a coach could not see how dumb it was to let Vinny del Negro and Avery Johnson initiate the offense so often when you could have been putting the ball in Dave Robinson and Sean Elliot's hands instead.

I'm going to sound like a dick saying it, but I never understood the Sochan love. Great teammate, yada yada. That's admirable. We didn't win because of him, so he stopped getting playing time. It be like that sometimes.

Don't know if yall saw that Doug Moe passed away...the only coach to lead the Spurs to Eastern Conference greatness.
I'm always gonna like high energy hustle guys. But also recognize if they don't develop an offensive skill beyond being above average at setting picks, there is no place for them.
He was fun and quirky, which was nice to have when we were a 20 win team. But if all you are is a fun, quirky pest defender, maybe it is best to go be a fan favorite for a different 20-win team next year.

Sochan was great for what we needed him to do for a time. Our goals and objectives changed and he was no longer a piece that fit into our new goals. It sucks because he was a great teammate, loyal, and everyone liked him, but he doesn't fit the new puzzle.
I think the puzzle analogy is the best one here. He's probably a good basketball player that has a productive role somewhere. But for the pieces we have now, and how well those pieces are playing together he didn't have a clear path to any playing time.
Sometimes things like this are good for a player, it's not easy to get cut essentially, and now he's going to have to do some deep introspection on what he's willing to do to address some of the shortcomings in his game.
