Q&A with Steph:
Rookie of the Year is often called "just the beginning" so what goals are you chasing next in your NBA career?
Castle: I don't try to put limits on my game or my potential. Everybody in the league goes for the awards that fit them. Making an All-Star game is a goal, making All-Defensive teams, and then just building from there.
What about your game do you think translates best to winning basketball?
Castle: Just taking advantage of my abilities on both sides of the floor. Obviously, having Wemby helps, especially in transition. Being able to get into the paint, find shooters, and make the right plays. I think I'm easy to play with and always trying to create advantages for my teammates.
What stands out to you about the Spurs' young core as you help shape this new era of the franchise?
Castle: We have a lot of talented young guys on our team, and bringing in our new guys this year made us even deeper. That's our calling cardplaying fast, playing together, and having fun on and off the court. With a new coach and a fresh start, there's not a lot of pressure. We just go out there and play free, and that's helped us be successful so far.
