Grabbing stuff for the fire pit, and this guy was sitting underneath. Can't believe I didn't get bit.

A short time later I learned that there are somehow three of them in that picture.

Think I see part of number three. Just above the obvious one two sticks make a y. Looks like part of body in the shadows in the gap of the 'y'.

Had this massive anaconda come up to the shop yesterday evening.

Checkered garter?

It was a little over a foot long, got the dogs to leave him alone and off into the grass he went.

Broad banded water snake. Hike/bike trail in Barker Reservoir/George Bush Park. Most common snake I see here.

I caught a whole bunch of these in GW Bush/Barker back in the day. The most snakes I have seen in my life was on a nighttime/dusk hike along the bayou when I was about 14. I could have caught 30-40

Dang!
Usually, when I see one I'll see multiple. Almost stepped on another a couple minutes after seeing this one.
Have only come across a couple moccasins and copperheads on the trail.

Dewberries are ripening so I'll be on the lookout for more!

This was along the edge of the bayou between the sewage plant by Pattison Elementary all the way back to almost where Buffalo Bayou hits Mason Creek. A ton of snakes apparently spend the day in the shaded areas in the trees and right at dusk head towards the waters edge. Fun times!

Found this DOR corn snake. Person in front of me hit it.

I realize water snakes are all good, but seeing a big, fat snake like that early in the morning off my back porch would make for a wide awake 12th Man Ag!

Nah, that's exciting! Any time I see a snake, my adrenaline kicks in! I like snakes a lot more than most people. You know what to expect of the snakes.

My thought process upon seeing a snake has gone from "Oh ****, a snake!" to "Oh ****, where is my phone so I can take a picture for Texags!"

Eastern Ohio. I can't decide between a rat snake or coach whip….probably neither!!!

I believe that's a gray rat snake, but I'll let someone else confirm that is more familiar with snakes outside of Texas.

I don't think coachwhips range that far north.

I can't remember which Ledbetter boy was sent up the tree to knock the 'coon out, which turned out to be a lynx (a souped up bobcat)

It wasn't a Ledbetter. It was the Game Warden, big John .....? "Knock him out Joooohhnn!"

The guy in the stories name was John Eubanks. He worked for the rich man Mr Barron who's land Jerry and his neighbor Sonny were hunting on. Jerry described him as a "professional tree climber."

My buddy almost stepped on this today walking on his road north of San Antonio. Is this a Mexican Pigmy or a Northern Black Tail ?

My dog and I nearly stepped on this guy (timber rattlesnake) It didn't like my dog's lunging and barking. We gave him a wide berth when we went back.

Sorry for the bad picture but he seemed to be getting agitated, and I didn't want to get closer for a better picture.

This was in Northern Grimes County.

This is the second one I have seen in the past couple weeks. The first was dead on the side of the road. Since it didn't look like it was run over, I am guessing that a resident roadrunner got a big meal.
