Just finished the series; great show! I've gone back and read some of the posts, and may have missed it...if the world did not have these non-Others, what would the Others be doing with/to the planet?? What is their final objective - after "pleasing" the non-Others and/or converting them? Just work the planet in a commune style?

Resource preservation for whoever sent the signal is my guess on their ultimate mission

I still wonder if this is the end goal. An alien takeover. I can't imagine this alien species is smart enough to create this "virus" and be able to broadcast it across the universe, but they can't figure out the dilemma about "no killing" that'll ultimately result in the entire human species going extinct within 10 years? Seems intentional to me. They want to rid earth of humans, but in doing it this way it ensures the planet is still in good condition afterwards. This way humans don't nuke each other and make it uninhabitable.

I believe that is exactly the plan, get rid of the alpha species and come in afterwards with little to no resistance. They can let the humans extinction play out over the next 10 or so years while they are traveling towards earth. At most, if no new babies are born, we (humans) will cease to exist in 110 or so years. This assumes babies are still living, which the show has not shown any, and in fact hinted in episode one (in the hospital) they don't.

One episode there was mention of a specific number of deaths and births that day, so I assume that the current pregnant women are still "finishing the job" and there are still healthy babies being born. For the following few months at least. Beyond that initial supply, there's no indication that they're making new ones.

Of course, there was also a mention of orgies in a different episode, so maybe thats actually a non-issue.

First half had a "HER" vibe when Carol caught Zoisa meeting with manousos and realized she was just an artificial representation of the aliens and common sense superseded her loneliness.

I went back to the second episode and saw that a filthy Zoisa was loading a body into a truck, got on a motorcycle to the airport, started and flew a C-130 around the world to Albuquerque to meet with Carol.

Had kinda forgotten about that. With what we know ( or think we know now ) Anyone care to expound on this?

I think the Collective was specifically selecting Zoisa to deal with Carol? And ultimately she failed because she couldn't be the individual that Carol needed.
