Our family is friends with the families of 2 players on the team. Saw them both before the game yesterday. One of them told me that since the Nebraska match over $2M has been donated to volleyball. I bet more more has come in since then. Not sure if it would go to NIL or for some needed volleyball-specific facility upgrades like locker room.
Jamie has consistently had the message to maroon club that he doesn't want to be spending money on flashy stuff, but instead on things that will make the players/program better. Things like the telemetry system they use to monitor the player load. On occasion, Maroon club has asked for staff to put together a wish list and have been willing to make sure the program has what is needed to make it better. Special thanks to the maroon club members who have supported this program and helped to get us where we are today.
As for NIL, I think people are still wrapping their head around the changes from the house settlement. We have revenue share and volleyball gets a piece. But that has a salary cap, so giving volleyball a bigger slice means cuts somewhere else, but football still pays the bills.
Everything else has to go through the clearing house requiring a business purpose. TMF has some ability to turn donations into NIL by paying for marketing (interviews on TexAgs, etc), but that comes out of general fund.
I think our NIL budget increases with the increased visibility and playfly actively marketing the athletes. For example, Kyndal should be able to get some nice sponsorship deals. A coordinated effort to market the NIL should also be able to turn up some local business opportunities.
If the 2 mil is accurate, I suspect most will go towards program enhancing things that may be less visible.
