There has got be a bunch of top girls who are nearly burnt out from a decade of non-stop volleyball who have watched our team play with so much passion and joy that they would want some of that themselves.

Who wouldn't want to play on this team? Maybe selfish players?

If we are tossing out money for stars, I'd rather spread the wealth on players with potential (which Morrison seems to have an eye for) than one big dog. It works for softball apparently ($1M at ttech) but less so for volleyball. Besides we have Stowers already!

A&M has six sports participating in the revenue sharing and VB is one. I suspect #1 priority will be / already is (and should be!) taking care of Stowers.

I hate the whole money in college sports but that is whole other discussion. A coach almost 15 years now and a biz owner for 25. In the 25 years I have had a few superstar workers and none of them were motivated by money. Most of them the work itself was the motivation, to include an ongoing challenge. After that it was feeling appreciated and part of a team, unified in the shared goals.

That said I hope and think that Aggieland and Aggie VB continues to have some elements, other than money that draw athletes and students alike to come to and stay for, motivating them to be the best they and those around them can be.

Our family is friends with the families of 2 players on the team. Saw them both before the game yesterday. One of them told me that since the Nebraska match over $2M has been donated to volleyball. I bet more more has come in since then. Not sure if it would go to NIL or for some needed volleyball-specific facility upgrades like locker room.

Jamie has consistently had the message to maroon club that he doesn't want to be spending money on flashy stuff, but instead on things that will make the players/program better. Things like the telemetry system they use to monitor the player load. On occasion, Maroon club has asked for staff to put together a wish list and have been willing to make sure the program has what is needed to make it better. Special thanks to the maroon club members who have supported this program and helped to get us where we are today.

As for NIL, I think people are still wrapping their head around the changes from the house settlement. We have revenue share and volleyball gets a piece. But that has a salary cap, so giving volleyball a bigger slice means cuts somewhere else, but football still pays the bills.

Everything else has to go through the clearing house requiring a business purpose. TMF has some ability to turn donations into NIL by paying for marketing (interviews on TexAgs, etc), but that comes out of general fund.

I think our NIL budget increases with the increased visibility and playfly actively marketing the athletes. For example, Kyndal should be able to get some nice sponsorship deals. A coordinated effort to market the NIL should also be able to turn up some local business opportunities.

If the 2 mil is accurate, I suspect most will go towards program enhancing things that may be less visible.

Perhaps you were paying them enough where that motivation was satisfied?

OK, time to move past the Natty and get this team formed for 2026. So many incredible players have been available, yet, nothing from A&M at this point. No doubt we have a ton of needs considering all the seniors. I am getting a little nervous at this point as I had assumed Jamie had some NIL deals in the works for a few top transfers.

Any insights?

I said days. Not just enjoy the NC for just one day.

I find it interesting you are so worried about next year when you are not even allowing yourself to celebrate this one.

Congrats again to Aggie Volleyball !!!!

2020 (Kuhn), 9-9 overall, 7th SEC, no NCAA tournament (shortened year)
2021 (Kuhn), 14-14 overall, 9th SEC, no NCAA tournament
2022 (Kuhn), 13-16 overall, 11th SEC, no NCAA tournament

2023 (Jamie), 16-13 overall, 8th SEC, 1st Round
2024 (Jamie), 21-8 overall, 5th SEC, Sweet Sixteen
2025 (Jamie), 29-4 overall, 2nd SEC, National Champion

The team was on a downward trajectory when Jamie took over. Using the existing players and adding and developing some we have improved each year. This year was WOW, to say the least. In only three years we went from no tournament appearance for three years to king (queen?) of the mountain, defeating multiple powerhouse teams on the way.

I think he and his staff know what they are doing.

That said, once at the top it is really hard to stay there. Yes, we will lose a ton of talent and might not be as dominant next year but the program is certainly on the correct track. I will repeat what others have said - trust Jamie.

Development has been a huge part of this. Just look at Ifenna. She has talked about really struggling her freshman year, almost to the point of quitting volleyball. She has talked about Jamie coming in and helping her with her blocking.

Also, Jamie's emphasis on being a well rounded volleyball player (I think it was Nebraska's middle that recalled Jamie saying "are you a middle or are you a volleyball player"). Ifenna's serve has improved so much. 1 ace last year to leading the team in aces and that 10-0 run was beautiful.

To take a girl who was struggling her freshman year and turning her into one of the best middles and servers in college ball in 3 years. Players should be lining up for that development.

up and down the line up, everyone got better, more than a few significantly better.

I don't know if other coaches were taking note of our style of play, but many commentary have mentioned how Jamie's style is more like international/european volleyball. I don't know what that really means but wondering if other programs may follow suit or try at least.

Seeing on volleytalk that the third player is Eliza Sharp from Boise State, an MB who was Mountain West freshman of the year.

yep

Everybody else is saying that the 6'7'' opposite from Kansas but i think Sharp is the one, not to say we cant get one more but who knows

The same volleytalk people are like we need a setter and libero but i dont think so at all

I am fine with Manning and Musgrove

and DS with Rodriguez Therford and Applegate

If it is Sharp and the MB from OSU, then we'll have 4 MB's on next year's roster. One current freshmen, one in coming freshman and two from the portal. Should be a good mix!

The incoming freshmen is a project, I'd expect a redshirt and might see playing time come year 3

6'1 Outside Hitter - Natalie Ring
3rd Team All American, All Big East, 4.54 kills a set, 0.33 aces per set

6'3 - Middle - Eliza Sharp
Would be an insane pick up She averaged 1.23 blocks a set and 2.21 kills a set as a freshman! Mountain West Freshman of the Year and All Conference

6'4 - Middle - Kaia Castle
Former top 20 recruit, 1.94 kills a set, 0.88 blocks a set.

Both middles with 3 years of eligibility… wow

If this all comes to fruition, this is an insane transfer class!

We'd have one of the best outside hitting duos, we'd be strong again at the middle position with more height… I like our back row room with Applegate, Rodriguez, and Thedford! We'll see who wins the setter battle, both can play. Margot Manning might not be available for spring. Opposite we'll have a battle between Taryn Morris and freshman Brooke Lacewell, unless we go after another.

Wow wow wow!

Ring would have been second on our team behind Ifenna in Aces, Manning (Wehner as a setter or serving sub) is going to be one of our best setters too!

Stowers I bet picks up her aces as well with more practice and development! I want to see if Morris or one of the middles can serve strong as well! Fitch and Applegate are solid servers too!

reminding everyone why we need middles is because one did not make the class last year and went track (at t.u.) got the Serbian last minute

Not sure if she stays for next year or not but adding the 6'7'' Serbian from Kansas RS that volleytalk is saying might complete everything we need to for next season

I am intruiged by Morris who was mainly a blocking sub but tough shoes to fill and I can see a 6-2 system for one year setting wise anyway with Manning redshirting assuming she is healthy enough

I'm trying to learn. When you say one of the best outside hitting duos, you're talking about Stowers and Ring correct? Then you mention other names for opposite (where Lednicky played). So are you saying one of Stowers and Ring would start and the other would come off the bench and rotate in? If we think Ring is that good of a pin (I learned that term watching this year. I hope I'm using it correctly.) would it be difficult for her or Stowers to play the opposite position so they are out there at the same time like Stowers and Lednicky were this year? Thank you for your help.

Stowers and Ring are both six rotation players - able to attack and have back court skills (passing/defense). Neither would normally sub out when rotating to the back.

Assuming all these are true that would give us 13 underclassmen. We are witnessing a dynasty unfold here in Aggieland

Sophomores: Addi Applegate, Megan Fitch, Amare Hernandez, Kirra Musgrove, Taryn Morris, Djurdja Stanojevic, Kaia Castle, Eliza Sharp

Freshman: Lolufe Adedeji, Sara Bowcutt, Brooke Lacewell, Gabi Rodriguez, Jenna Thedford

Jamie has really emphasized that (international/European) from the beginning and preparing the players for that level, because that is where they likely play if they go on after college. He has specifically mentioned they use international numbering schemes internally for rotations/zones for this reason.

Don't ask me to explain what those differences are.
