Frustrating season just accelerated to desperation. Frankly I don't think we have the arms to pose a serious threat of making Omaha and I've said as much all year. If Early produces a similar throwing squad next season it will be his last in Aggieland. No one knows that better than he does. Much of the offense will need to be replaced and that makes it twice as hard but this is the job he wanted so go and get it done.

Two questions:
1) why do you think Kelly is gone?
2) can there be optimism about Sdao? Stating the obvious…but he's struggled so much this season. Is that a coaching issue?

Never ceases to amaze me that people who claim to be big Aggie supporters can actively hope for the worst. Shelby Metcalf never spoke more true words.
And Earley isn't going anywhere. He's done a masterful job of coaching this year. We are in the Regional Finals tonight. Something none of us would have dreamed of the first month of the season, yet the pot bangers are still loud and proud.
I've stayed away from this board for the most part this season. Guess I should have stayed away a little longer.
Some of you people need to get life.

Thankfully the season has had enough success that the doomers have largely stayed in their lairs or bogs or wherever they live. We all know they only come out when we drop a game or are struggling in an inning. Other seasons the Reddit game threads have been more refreshing in all honesty. They just aren't as populated unfortunately.
I finally got off my high horse last coupla seasons and just went on a banning spree. I pay for a Star, might as well use it. It's helped, a lot.

I'm very, VERY frustrated he didn't get more rope in mid-week games.

great hitting and average-to-below-average pitching can be a winning formula
edit...especially with a good closer...and A&M has one
The way this team hit last night gives them a chance in every game. We wouldn't be the betting favorites, not should we, but there's a chanceW said:

*Should be his last
Although I agree that I doubt he goes anywhere no matter what.

Edit: even this page has 5 of them. Makes for some 1 sided conversations I'm sure with me not seeing their nonsense.
Agree feels like a missed opportunity to not get more miles on the younger pitchers. Especially when the doubt of depth came into play with injuries.Sean98 said:If he would throw more strikes I'm confident they would.MagnumLoad said:

The frequency and magnitude of pitching injuries suggest that this is more than just bad luck. So that questions the preparation beginning with offseason through the final game. Stretching, strength and conditioning, form, training, etc all comes down to the program and those running it. Does Kelly have to go? It appears that he is part of the problem. Does Early have to go? At the end of the day his future is driven by results and that includes his coaching staff. So, yes. If we're in the same position a year from now (a quilt-like hodgepodge of a depleted pitching roster) then 3 years of evidence will prove that Early cannot recruit, prepare and retain a pitching staff at the level required to compete in Omaha. Is that a guy we're willing to keep around? Not my decision but I think the answer is clear.
Maybe the new pitching lab will fix a lot of this. I certainly hope so. But Kelly has to go.

I think you may be responding to the post above. My comment was focused on getting more time during the season (specifically midweek games) to some of the younger pitchers on staff.MagnumLoad said:StinkyPinky said:Sean98 said:MagnumLoad said:

I don't understand your concern about throwing strikes. Based on the stats shown in last nights telecast and his two K's last night, Vincent is averaging 2 K's per inning pitched. I have seen a lot of his appearances and he does not have control problems.
Sean98 said:
In 9 innings he has 8 walks, 2 wild pitches and 5 HBPs. He's definitely had control issues.
He also has the highest potential stuff on our staff IMO. That's why giving him a chance to pitch through some things in low leverage spots is critical.
As we talk about scheduling and the need for lower tier opponents to get experience for younger players we have to remember that only works if you actually play the younger players.

Interesting choice of stats ... So what you're saying is that every coach we've had on the last 40 years has accomplished this?Gaius Rufus said:
