USC won't be able to pitch off either. They'll have to throw Edwards vs SWT I think.

I hope it works out this way but I could see them gambling a bit here. Start their 2 vs SWT, pray for a dub and hold Edwards for us. That is by far their best path to win the regional imo. (Same exact logic for us btw, just that I think our initial opponent is a lot weaker.)

It's a helluva gamble. May be their best option but I hope it bites them in the ass if they do it

Its really rare for a two seed to hold their ace for the second game. I can't think of a time that's happened. It's part of the advantage of being a one seed, is that the 2 and 3 have to fire their best bullets before you face them.

It's not a normal 2 though. Their 2 has more wins (10 vs 8) and a better WHIP than Edwards (.86 / #2 nationally versus Edwards at .95 / #6.) Of course, Edwards has a ridiculous 160 K's in 88.1 IP!!!! That's #1 nationally by 40, whereas Grant has 86 in 88.2.

Either way, it's a tough matchup for us. Somehow they have not faired well against Q1 teams this year but their pitching looks to be really good.

Re-thinking this, I think you are Sean are correct. Win game 1 with Edwards,, take their chances with a #2 that on paper is better than Sims and should you win you're in the best possible spot.

Troy as the last team in and Mercer as the last team out seems harsh. If only they could have scheduled a series between each other to determine who the better team is… oh wait.

A lot of folk on TexAgs setting themselves up for anger and disappointment. Most like a 9-11 seed and our regional may be paired with Auburn. We will avoid the sips because of our late season swoon, and ESPN wants them in Omaha. Losing 2 of last 3 series and throwing up a goose egg at SEC tournament tends to do that. That leads to a likely encounter with Auburn in the SR. Dont shoot the messenger

This post aged well.

Where's swimmy today? She has to be on pins and needles. TC& going to be right on the cut line. Zero series wins vs tournament teams, although there's a 2-1 weekend vs the SEC at an early season tourney (1 of those being Vandy)

I knew. I mean I didnt know .. but i knew.

Alas, I am very bummed and honestly was bummed going into it because I dont believe in my program right now and I think some major changes need to be made to put it back on the right path.

This year's field is really cool and I'm sad not to be a part of it..and kinda sad with myself that I'm not enjoying it more.

I will say...

North Carolina did not get an easy regional with East Carolina and Tennessee

and a rough year for the old SWC

kind of a throwback to the mid-to-late 80's when A&M, Arkansas, and t.u. dominated

and Tech, Rice, TCU, UH, and Baylor all stayed home

last year's A&M team won 4 of 10 conference series

UK only won 2 this year -- that is wild

They're pretty salty about it, too. They're not too happy to be paired with us, either.

Their conference schedule was one of the easiest as well. They lost to both Mizzou and South Carolina.

I knew the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee would drop us from the top 8 after getting shut out 7-0 in our only SEC tournament game, but it's frustrating how they dropped us 4 spots.

As the overall #12 seed we would likely not have been in the Top 8 even if the Ags won that game.

They didn't drop us because of one tournament game.

We were projected to the No. 8 seed before the tournament, but we fell outside the top 8 and were commonly projected around No. 9 or 10 after the SEC tournament. That's what I expected too, but the committee dropped us further to No. 12 because we went one and done, several teams passed us, and resume concerns. We would have needed to win two SEC tournament games to reach the SEC Championship Game to be in the top 8.

dropping below Florida State was the headscratcher

A&M has a better resume...and frankly it's not close...especially with series wins over two of the top 8
