and the crazy thing is that Houston Country Clubs are a great deal compared to those in Dallas. I bet they have five or six clubs more expensive than our highest price club.

For sure. By last count, DFW has 13 clubs with initiation fees over $100k, 10 in the Dallas area and 3 on the Fort Worth side. Six of those are over $200k and Vaquero is over $300k.

Yeah
Sounds right

I think Carlton Woods, Bluejack, and Houston Oaks are probably your 3 most expensive at 200+

Lake side is at 150 but a 4 year wait list

Houston just doesn't have great golf

Absolute lack of options in West Houston are a key driver. Still half the cost of lakeside and significantly cheaper than RO

Trying living in far SW Houston…very limited options. Shadow & BlackHawk

Was hoping they would incorporate new courses into Austin Point etc but nope!

FYI for those looking for a junior membership. Riverbend right now is $10k for junior - Pay $5k when you join, , then another $5k between 30-35yrs old at which time you are an equity member. We are also apparently about to lower our monthly - not sure how much.

With all the clubs in the area building waitlists and increasing initiations it seems concerning that Riverbend would be cutting deals and reducing monthly dues. Doesn't sound like they have put themselves in a very good position financially.

I could very well be wrong, but I think thats only for the junior membership. I think they raised their initiation recently for the standard stock membership.

I have no clue of their finances, but I was hosted by a member there last month. It still appears to be a great club to me.

Basically Junior is $5 and Equity is $10. We do need more members but not a lot more. The area the club is in is not going to provide a ton of new members - SL demographics have changed and the homes are aging out there. A large percentage of our new members come from inside the Loop. Our monthly dues are not cheap at all - we are right at $1000/mo (incl $100 F&B min).

The golf course is great, and we have one of the best men's locker rooms in the area.

The club members are all super fun and it's easy to meet people. I'm sure we have an old sore head but haven't met them yet.

But we are having a conversation over what we really are - golf club vs country club.

We have all the CC amenities but my thought is we're a golf club first and foremost. We have some families at the pool and playing tennis or working out. But 99% of the people out there are playing golf. That was never more evident than when the course was recently shut down for two weeks for aerating, vericutting, top dressing. Only people out those weeks, were on the practice range.

Anyone a member at Willow Creek?

Just saw they're part of the Sterling group, wondering how course conditions compare to when they were under previous ownership.

I've heard it's great - you also get access to Golf Club of Houston members course, so that's an added benefit.

Fort Bend A&M Club usually holds its annual scholarship tournament at Black Hawk. This year I asked their membership person, and initiation ran from $15K- 40K depending on which membership you chose. Associated Monthly was $685-$1070 (full family)

You get Black Hawk, GCoH, and the private (south??) Blackhorse.

Course has really wide fairways, but is usually in great shape. Smaller range, but (2) short game practice areas.
What we do in life echoes in eternity.

I looked out there when I was looking at clubs and it was 40+ minutes for me from Bridgeland. Just a deal breaker off the bat.

Not to derail but probably not worth another topic... Anyone happen to know the current initiation/dues for the 3 private clubs in BCS?

The Tour18 group that owns Augusta Pines & Highland Pines has sold Gleannloch Pines to Advance Golf Partners. AGP is a group out of DFW. They have plans for amenity/clubhouse/practice area improvements but no current plans for course changes that I'm aware of. I believe they also intend to change the name of the club to Gleannloch Forest Golf Club.
Summit golf instruction academy will remain onsite as the golf instruction arm.
I'm not aware of any current details regarding changes to tee times, membership rates etc. but those usually matriculate when renovations/improvements are in the plans.
At best I would guess rates remain as is but wouldn't be surprised to see a slight increase over the next calendar year.
Thanks & Gig 'Em

Gleannloch needs to address the teeboxes as they are generally trash, and drainage issues.

Otherwise the course itself is great and a fun track.

Wow, when did this happen? Hopefully they spend money on Augusta Pines, last time I played about 2 months ago, the Tee-Box to Greeens were fantastic but most of the putting greens were in need of some attention .

I have been a member at Black Hawk for about 8 months since I moved back from the Scotland work assignment. The course is in good shape and members keep the pace of play at 4 hours or less which makes for enjoyable rounds. Great facilities including a brand new gym and complimentary on-site child care are other nice benefits that set it apart from the other local options I looked at (along with it being close to my commute).

Next door at Shadowhawk they started a complete renovation of the fairways and greens few weeks back. It will be interesting to see how the course is once it opens back up end of this year. Service and amenities are great there also.

I don't have much to add except my wife's uncle is at HCC and I REALLY enjoy my time out there when he takes us out. Their 4th party was awesome.

They also have a robo range picker that kind of looks like a cyber truck and it was really cool.

FYI - Braeburn just announced they are going to $95k for equity. They are also full @ 500 equity members and 40+ associate/junior members waiting to upgrade to equity. Basically a two year wait list at this point. They are also close to capping the associate members.

540 golf members for one course? How does that tee sheet work?
MAROON
How long do you want to ignore this user?

More than 540. Member's kids and spouses can also play. And that's pretty typical membership cap for a 18 hole country club.

I bet less than half the members play a round a week at most courses. I know guys out there that play at most five or six rounds a year at that club.
