I just found out that UHpgrade is Tech's biggest rival.

As a Coog I find it flattering. Even the Tech AD is trying to brew something up between us.

Go Coogs!

I dont see this as 'brewing something up'. He is just stating facts. Just go to goCougs and see all the oaths NOT to sell tickets to Tech fans. Wont matter, there'll be just as many or more of us Sat evening in your stands than coug fans.

To your question, long term for football, I think it will be Okie State. Something about familiarity breeds contempt. This, assuming we can both be competitive at the same time. That said plenty of hate already between the Texas schools. For BB maybe KU, BU, or UH any of those would be good.

Basketball for years to come will be Tech vs UH. These are the 2 best programs in the State and arguably in the Big 12 as of now.

Tomorrow night will be a fun game. If you are going I highly suggest to park downtown and take the rail. Fast and easy. Parking/traffic around the stadium has been a nightmare for the last couple of games.

And with U Texas its people publicly parading around licking dildos or other sexual identity issues.

I'm A&M class of '83 and was absolutely shocked at how much hatred Tceh had for us back then. I don't know how much it's changed.

There was always an extra level of hate from them for us. Felt like we showed more disdain than hatred until they started beating us regularly under Leach.

I didn't get the hate either when I first got to A&M. Culturally, we are more similar to them than the sips.

I realized that it's an entire campus of people that applied to A&M but their letters began with "Unfortunately….."

So they got smart and created a culture around it and made up their minds that they were "just as good" and rolled with it. Makes sense I guess.

I am close personal friends with a bunch of Aggies. Some of them are brilliant. Some of them aren't. Half of them started at Blinndergarten. For people that really want to go to a public school in Texas, there's a way to do it.

A&M is a great school. And I agree that Tech and A&M are much closer culturally than either school and UT. The funny thing is that the arrogance A&M hates about the "sips" is pretty closely related to the arrogance so many Ags exhibit towards Tech. It's not a good look. I chose to go to Tech because it had a degree plan that I wanted with a size and culture that I needed. 40 years into my career, it was a great choice.

I miss being in the same conference with A&M and having y'all on our schedule. I hope we never play UT again at anything.

And I don't ever want Tech in the SEC. Ever. But we don't have a natural rival in the Big 12 and that sucks.

Oh, and I miss the SWC. And I always will.

This is old rivalries content I can get behind!

I've never been a big fan of the academic snobbery that often pops up. I really wish we'd cut it out. I find it conceited to think loads of Tech grads really wanted to be Aggies or Longhorns. Some maybe... but I'm sure there are plenty of people who wanted to go to Tech but went elsewhere. They are all state schools meeting the same accrediting standards.

As a kid, I had zero concept of college football rivalries. I grew up in El Paso and watched the NFL but never CFB. Why would anyone want to watch UTEP football? When I moved to Austin as a teen, I didn't really pay any attention to the Longhorns either. When it came time to pick a college, I chose A&M because it was far enough from home but close enough to home at the same time. It was only during my time there that I became obsessed with my Ags. Amusingly, growing up in El Paso, whenever I heard Aggie jokes I thought they were referring to New Mexico State.

It's interesting to me that you'd like to play A&M again but not t.u. Seems like you'd want to shun us both. Maybe it's been so long since we played the nostalgia factor has kicked in.

When sip & soon announced their plan to bounce to the SEC, I felt like it was an opportunity for Tech to level-up. To me it looked like Tech and oSu had a chance to really grab the mantle. oSu decided to pee the bed then pout about it, so now it seems like y'all are going to have to take sole ownership of the Big12.

I don't really miss the SWC. I went to A&M in the late 80's early 90's and the conference was just crap. It seemed like mostly glorified high school teams. TCU was hot garbage. Rice was a joke. SMU was in NCAA Alcatraz. UofH and Baylor were good-ish until about 1991 then went straight into the shidder. Tech was perennially a 5-6 win team (but played like a 10-win team when they played us). Sip was in the doldrums even though they thought they were God's gift. We'd roll through conference play then meet a team from a real conference in a bowl game and get our deek knocked in the dirt. Getting out of the SWC was the second best (off-the-field) thing that A&M has done as an athletic department. Joining the SEC being the first.

I'd say Baylor. It would've been Houston after that great rivalry back in the late 70's but got derailed when the BigXII was born.

Y'all are making some bigtime waves, that's fo sho. And it's exactly what you should be doing. Every school not in the B1G or SEC should definitely be doing the same to the best of their ability. Schools in the big 2 should be preparing to deal with the "wave-makers".

The supposed arrogance has never flowed toward Tech. More accurate is the inferiority complex that some Tech students let loose with for no reason and they reap what they sow. I've never felt that way about Tech and always remind my Tech friends that the true problem is in Austin. They didn't believe me until we left the Big12.

hmm...I'd go with Okie Light, Baylor and TCU....not necessarily in that order.

All historical stats have them pretty evenly matched as far as Wins and Losses.

Our main rival wins almost 65% of the time....but wins and losses don't make a rivaly, mutual hatred does.
