Are we on Bochy watch? I don't understand why anyone would want to go back out to San Francisco but that's just a redneck from Texas talking.

His contract is up and I don't see how he can be re-upped after the offensive performances we have seen over the past two seasons. He's also clearly lost the magic touch or feel for his players that he was known for. Lots of head scratchers throughout the year.

Fine with keeping Mike Maddux as the pitching coach assuming there is no obvious upgrade.

How much of that do we put on Bochy? He had his head-scratchers, for sure; all managers do.

He was playing the hand he was dealt. The front office was playing tight with money before the season started. CY didn't go get a bat at the deadline, but got "proven" pitchers that were going to make our #1 pitching staff #1+++. We didn't have a true closer. He may have had one in Chris Martin, but injuries got the best of him.

Pitching and defense were stellar for the most part. The approach at the plate was mind boggling, but how much of that was Boch?. He sat guys, moved them up and down the order, and by the end of the season, we were a MASH unit with AAA players up and down the roster.

I'm not advocating for or against really, I just don't think this season was all Bochy's fault.

It's a fair question. Before the season the offense was projected to be really good with pitching being the question. He deserves credit for the pitching being awesome but you need to wonder why he couldn't get the hitters to perform.

The team was in the bottom third of the league in every offensive category and in the bottom 5 teams of AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS. He just isn't pushing the right buttons to get guys going on the hitting side.

The offense was supposed to be our strength this year, that's for sure. Again, I'm not sure how much to put on Bochy, though.

He moved Semien down to 7th (?), Adolis was benched, then moved down, CY sent Jung down, all kinds of moves. He tinkered with the lineup so much tthat here wasn't really a set lineup. Remember when we wanted Josh Smith, Wyatt, and Seager, 1-2-3, and we got them? It didn't last for long, I think, because of an injury to Seager.

He tried to right the offensive ship but they just didn't respond. I think we'll see a vastly different lineup this coming year. maybe going with a youth movement. (I saw somewhere that we had the oldest roster in MLB, mainly becasue of de Grom, Eovaldi, Martin, Milner, etc)

There were times this season that I put it all on Bochy. The way he handles the bullpen drives me nuts. He couldn't have squeezed more blood from a stone than he did innings out of Milner, who was toast by the middle of August. And he just kept trotting him out there.

CY has to take a lot of the blame, too. His trade deadline acquisitions weren't enough to get us over the hump. A bat (I was advocating for Steven Kwan) would have certainly helped, but I don't know how much.

We blew more saves than any other team in baseball, and still had the best staff. How about that?!

The one thing I do blame Bochy on is the approach…because he simply could not get through to Jung & Adolis. Every single AB on every single pitch, they sit there and Grip & Rip for a 5 run HR and that cost us big

Maybe we should let South Platte do it. He's a sunshine pumper through and through.

I don't mean anything bad by that. He just seems to have a rosier disposition when it comes to the Rangers.

Reinserting Adolis in to the lineup after the little rascals had us on a winning streak is just a prime example of how he's lost his touch.

Agree that he leaned on Milner, though I think the injury to Coulumbe was part of that. The bullpen looked really good in the few games both Coulumbe and Maton were available.

Also agree that CY deserves some criticism for going all in on pitching when it wasn't really an issue. Would love to hear his explanation for not going after a bigger bat, especially when you consider that he gave a lot of high quality prospects for Kelly.

I think Adolis owning Houston was part of his reasoning. The run started when he was in the lineup and they were winning but not exactly setting the world on fire. I can see his reasoning even if most of us didn't want him to do it.

Just got an espn alert from Jeff Passan saying Bochy is out as manager. Could return as an advisor.
