New district for next season will make for some interesting road trips: Alief schools, Lamar, Bellaire, Westside, Heights.

The real question is, do Lamar and Bellaire piss and moan about each other?

Stratford's baseball team is going to be really, really good this spring.

Yes. And Memorial has multiple D-1 athletes that won't see much time on the mound this spring. Pitching depth is insane.

That's gonna be dope for baseball. I realize they redistrict regularly. But back when 5A was top and all SBISD schools were 5A… it should have been

Lamar
Bellaire
Heights (would have to)
Stratford
Memorial
Spring Woods
Northbrook
Strake Jesuit

That would have been amazing for pretty much all sports and playing more people you know.

SBISD was with Aldine schools when I was going through. And strake had either just started UIL or was about to. I forget.

I think they redistrict every 2 years

Strake grad here. We started UIL competition in spring of 2004. Our first go around we were with the Katy and Alief schools. Over the years I've seen Strake paired with Lamar and as far down as the Pearland schools.

I'm not sure if we've ever been in Stratford's and Memorial's district, but it would be fun, as you mentioned, there would be some good familiarity. I hung out with a few Stratford kids back in the day. I saw in the most recent redistricting that Strake was grouped with Sugar Land/Fort Bend schools - another good pairing as a good chunk of Strake kids come from the Sugar Land and First Colony area.

Why doesn't Strake play St. Thomas any more? And does it bother Strake grads that the reason is because Strake is scared?

Haha, I honestly don't know why it ended. But I have a hard time believing it was because Strake was scared.

After all, during my time playing we were a perfect 20-0 across all 5 levels of football, all four years; Varsity, JV, Soph, and two Fresh squads....and I don't think that was being duplicated on the other side recently.

Whatever happened to the Memorial kids who jumped the Stratfford kid and beat him up after the basketball game last year? Rumor was their parents were very affluent and pulled strings so that the kdis punishment was vry minimal and they were allowed to graduate. That event was EMBARRASSING.

I do not have a dog in the hunt, but Stratford seems to be a far more balanced school

That would be interesting to know these days. In my day Bellaire was a heavy Jewish school (before the Asian invasion). Lamar beat them all the time in football. Lee, Bellaire & Lamar used to be a threeway rivalry but HISD and the demographic decline of the immediate area destroyed Lee. Then Bellaire got really good in baseball and Lamar got even better in football. The schools used to be different enough that there wasn't a crazy animosity between them. Also, HISD post integration was pretty tame when it came to HS rivalry hate. I understand Lee & Lamar had a pretty strong rivalry back when they were both overwhelmingly affluent and white (I went to Lamar a few years after bussing started).

They have to bring cue balls to fist fights. Someone tell ITK and specifically Valdez that CE wants his eye back.

More Spartans are getting into Heaven than Mustangs. I'll just leave it at that.

Stratford Grad here. Fall of 08 and 09 I think we were with Strake, Memorial, Spring Woods, Northbrook and then the 3 Alief schools. I was a Freshman in 09 and I think that's who we played and it was the only time we were with Strake.
