It's not that he had a firearm at a "protest", it's not that he had multiple magazines, those details aren't the issue. The issue is, he was not there to peacefully "protest", we see that objectively in his actions in the videos. He obstructed, interfered with, and fought with Federal agents.

The details about the firearm and magazines are details that support the objective fact, he was there to break the law by interfering with Federal agents doing their job, he was armed while committing crimes, and while committing crimes of obstructing and fighting with Federal agents he had the forethought to make himself capable of committing grave bodily harm and possible death to Federal agents, and others, while committing crimes.

The 2A does not include being armed while committing crimes, nor do 2A advocates defend being armed while committing crimes. The first mistake by the man was when he made the choice to commit crimes rather than remain at a safe distance and ONLY peacefully protest. Had he chosen to only peacefully protest he would still be alive, being armed and the quantity of magazines is secondary and irrelevant.

Actually, it does matter why he was there. He was there by choice - so he intentionally put himself in that situation. He would be alive if he hadn't. End of story.

ICE did not intentionally go seeking him out to kill him. He sought out ICE, got involved, and ultimately paid an unfortunate price. All of those events stem from his initial action to "get involved". He pushed the situation, he confronted police, he resisted, and ultimately he got shot during the chaos of those actions. There were many opportunities for him to have a different result yet he chose none of them and rolled the dice instead.

The man was being stupid. He got himself killed. He could have been at home. He could have been out witnessing. He could have been feeding the poor. He could have even been protesting.

Instead, he chose to insert himself into a law enforcement operation while armed. It was stupid and he's dead.

There is no due process for inserting yourself into a situation you should be far away from while armed. Darwin got him.

My favorite part is some asshat can take months, weeks, and hours stringing together a series of awful, illegal, risky decisions. But on the flipside with only partial information gleaned from the agent's perspective at the scene and only seconds or even a split second for the agents make a decision, these agents are expected to be perfect. That's just not going to happen. These are humans. You have to avoid it reaching that moment by not spending months/days/weeks/hours/minutes being a moron setting up this encounter
