Mine: Characters arrogantly eating apples: two examples off the top of my head - Damian Lewis in Billions and Chris Pine in Star Trek. I don't know why but I can't stand it.

This is one of the most awesomely specific answers to this type of question I've ever read. I'm going to go watch those scenes now just to see what you're talking about!

When characters ask a tense question and the scene cuts away with them in silence.

The morning breath thing also bothers me.

"Early" morning starts and it looks like mid-day outside.

When characters are strolling by some New York City landmark like Washington Square Arch and there are no crowds at all, just 20 or so other people in the background.

Or when they are in some major city and they are always right in front of whatever major landmark that city is known for.

Paris hotel rooms with a window view of the Eiffel Tower is the most egregious example.

How they use radios. Always backwards. Who you're calling, then state who you are.
Not annoying but have always wondered why there are so many Grand Wagoneers in movies.

These actors acting as police officers don't know how to clear a room or house. Uh, are you sure the room is clear......you didn't even check the closet or the bathroom.

Picking a door lock......never knew it was that easy or can be done that quickly. Maybe you can.

When the computer whiz is sitting in front of the computer and someone tells them to pull up some data and rather than grab the mouse and start clicking they furiously tap away on the keyboard for two seconds pulling up some files.

They are using the far superior file management system, Norton Commander.

If you're good, yeah it's pretty damn fast. This guy can pick just about anything in under a minute, sometimes just a few seconds.

Going along with this idea, people who do not have CEO jobs living large in a lavish NYC apartment. Example - no way does the Daily Planet pay Lois Lane enough to afford that huge apartment with that big patio area in the first Superman movie.

You don't see it any more, but back in the day a lot of movies would use "day for night" techniques like blue filters to shoot outdoor nighttime scenes in broad daylight.

It was always so obvious.

Lot already mentioned, but in general, my biggest pet peeve rn is really bad southern accents, especially those presumed to be "Texas accents". It's like, most Texans don't sound like they're from North Carolina, or Alabama.

And a related pet peeve, is when it's obvious the film/series casted a Brit or Aussie, and their "American accent" is to sound like a hillbilly (or from Jersey/Brooklyn). Most recent example I can think of is Masters of the Air on Apple. Seemed like most of the extras and even some of the side characters were all from the backwoods of Mississippi or Arkansas. I've read that southern accents are easier for Brits to learn, but it doesn't make it any less annoying

Can't stand how they show 'hacking' in shows / movies. Some dude sitting in a van with a laptop apparently only has to type furiously for a few seconds and then hit enter and suddenly has control of everything that's needed - including random **** like elevators

The absolute biggest abomination was Ed Skrein in Midway playing Dick Best with an annoying street thug Jersey accent including plenty of overly enthusiastic gum smacking. Yeah Dick Best was from New Jersey but there are many video interviews of him and he doesn't have an a street hood "Joisey" accent. Really lazy job by Skrein and it makes watching an otherwise good film impossible for me.

I'll say these three again as I do every time this thread comes.

First, the 30 seconds it takes to trace a call. The 70s called, they want their dramatic license back.

Second kids always Seemingly always knowing more than their parents.

And third, the dump truck that always gets in the way of the chaser so our hero can get free in a car chase scene

Yup. Or worse, like I mentioned Masters of the Air, Barry Keoghan gave his character, Lt Curtis Biddick this hard Brooklyn accent. The real Lt Biddick was from Wisconsin. I get BK is Irish so he could probably only do the Brooklyn accent without his Irish accent coming thru, but this is a real pilot that was KIA. Just really annoyed me

This is how I feel about George C. Scott in "Patton". In reality Patton had a very nasally, almost high pitched voice. Whereas Scott played him with the deep, baritone voice. Apparently this was an intentional decision as it was felt that people would not believe that Patton actually sounded somewhat like Mickey Mouse.

The emotionally manipulative gun shot to the upper left chest, obviously hitting the heart, where in the next scene the victim is recovering from a very mild and survivable wound. BUGS ME!!! Next, is people just randomly guessing passwords. Not one of my passwords would have been 'broken' by the TV/Movie techniques.

Mine would be anytime there is a tense moment, or awkward moment, or sad moment and characters get quite and then breakout into laughter. I have never in my life been a part of, nor witnessed, this occur in real life.

Silencer portrayal.

Bad guys that can never shoot anyone despite unlimited ammo.

Action scenes moving from room to room, floor to floor, block to block, etc, and nobody in the next room/floor/block heard any of the explosions and machine guns supposedly a few feet away. They always are just meandering about, getting coffee, walking to the store, etc.
