Weirdly I prefer S4, at least through the first four episodes.

Obviously things ratchet way up in episode four, and the final scene is pretty awesome, if a little predictable.

But I do think it took a little longer than usual for this season to start picking up for me. Which is actually a little odd because this one feels like it starts in the middle, rather than every other season where they're setting the table and establishing a new threat. Kinda feels like Season 4 Part 2 in a way.

And going from multiple locations back to just Hawkins sort of feels like the show got scaled back a bit for the final season.

Still enjoying it overall though, and loving the new character dynamics like Will/Robin.

And man, I really hate their release schedule for the last two volumes.

I don't know why Netflix keeps trying to push holidays as release dates. Wish it would've dropped the week before Christmas, or the week after New Years.

Won't get to watch the last four episode till the 5th or so.

Best line of the season for me so far:

Derek: " It's called visualization. Mom does it when she's out of Valium."

well that was fun.

back to reality.

Impressive how they keep finding ways to make Robyn even more annoying.

It was super nice of Vecna to explain exactly what he's doing and why.

lazy writing is lazy.

I do…still lazy writing.

There are few tropes I hate more in media than "did I just say that out loud." It's a lazy way of attempting to write a quirky character. It's like the writers are trying to make us hate her. I thought she was fun in season 3. But it seems the writing for her has gotten progressively worse each season.

Also, I was cracking up at the military shooting in a circle straight ahead. I still love the show, but the writing can be so dumb sometimes.

I binged watched all 4 episodes today with one of my kids who had been out of state at a competition last week.

The scene where Erica drugs Derek's parents is almost a perfect shot-for-shot remake of when Minny feeds her former employer the **** pie in "The Help".

The gunfire in that last scene is indeed hilarious. From the "let's all stand really close to whatever is coming" instead of retreating to any sort of defensive position to the fact that everyone would have been killed by friendly fire.

Also think Dr Pepper must be a low-key advertiser because in the first episode both Hopper and Lucas are enjoying a delicious can of the good stuff during moments of stress.

This is one show where plot holes don't even really register with me. I watch it more for the 'vibe' than anything else and it's still probably one of my top 3-4 shows of all time.

That being said, all of the charm Robin used to have has worn off in my book and I agree that she is now pretty annoying and cringey. I think that is kind of how she is IRL.

The scene where they try to trap the demogorgon in Derek's house is a play on Nancy trying to trap Freddie Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street.

And the Dr Pepper cans....they used modern DP cans. They didn't taper towards the top like that back in the day. I noticed only bc I'm a DP fanatic and on a recent trip to Hawaii noticed that their cans are completely different shapes that the ones on the mainland.

I've also got my doubts about there being DP in rural Indiana in the mid-80's. It was still much more of a southern thing at that point and didn't make it to Chicago until the 90's (if I'm remembering correctly).

Didn't they say Hawkins is supposed to be like 30 mins from Indianapolis or something? So not CRAZY rural.

Maybe this was supposed to show right about the time DP finally started hitting in that area, given that it was so prominently displayed. There had to be a bigger reason than just marketing.

Now that you mention it, I'm starting to get a bit skeptical regarding the possibility of a mirrored but alternate universe. And I've never witnessed telekinesis either!

This show's a fraud!

Fair enough.

They've done a really good job with the authenticity of other aspects of the show, that just seemed random to me.

I finally got a chance to watch all four episodes - really like this season. A few random thoughts:

I have been thinking all along that Steve would die this season; he has been on borrowed time since season one when he was supposed to be killed off. But after the first four episodes, I'm getting a feeling that Dustin is going to be the first of the core characters to die. Probably something sacrificial, choosing death to save the others, etc. He is just so unhappy and angry I could see him doing something reckless.

Will's moment of reckoning when he discovered his powers was really cool. A little disconcerting that he killed the Demogorgons Vecna-style. I feel like we're going to see a Will versus Eleven showdown at some point this season - not sure what a precipitator would be, but maybe her forcing a confrontation with Vecna that gets Mike or Jonathon or Joyce hurt. Or, of course, if Vecna is able to control Will.

"Suck my fat one" was a nice callout to Stand By Me.

What the show's hair stylist did to Lucas this season when compared to last season should be considered a crime. Maybe Lucas had to travel outside of Hawkins to get lined up properly given how white the town is, and now that it's locked down, he's gotta make do with white barbers. That's my theory at least.

I was wondering....does Will have his own powers, or is he somehow tapping into/channeling Vecna's powers? Which I guess, in a sense, would imply a power of some kind. But to the magnitude he showed? I just figured whatever "link" he had with Vecna also allowed him to share Vecna's powers.

In their behind the scenes thing, the Duffers said Will is tapping into Vecna's powers. The closer Vecna is, the more powerful Will can become. So if Will can harness them consistently, Vecna will be up ****'s creek if he's in a confrontation with both 11 and Will there.

I'm really curious to know why the cave , some sort of Boy Scout excursion, are such a bad memory for Vecna.

I just can't wait for the last scene to be little kid Will waking up from a bad nightmare and then going to school with his friends.

so...............

considering Vecna just tosses Joyce aside instead of mutilating her, and, his Willam instead of Will... Not to mention the shows sudden need to flash back to Henry going to school with Joyce.... when do we start to ask is Will actually Henrys kid and not Lonneys?

Wasn't Henry Creel under control of Dr. Brenner pretty early? The timeline wouldn't match up for him to be out with Joyce in 1970 to create Will.

Vecna could have impregnated her in her sleep.

In the Broadway play, Joyce is directing a school play that Henry is in. In Max's flashback she is in Henry's memory of the day is was supposed to take place.
