I'll watch just to finish it out but I have no idea where they can go with the story since the upside down took over half the town. Feels like it should have ended with four seasons.
3 1/2 years to get the final season out, crazy. I'm on board but I almost have to do a rewatch.
I'm sorry for having an opinion your excellency. I am on a fan thread because I was a fan. I never said the show sucked, I said I wasn't interested in the last season. It's not my fault they waited this long and I lost interest over the years.

I started a rewatch of the series last week. I had forgotten how young the kids were when the show started. Some of the 80s elements hit a little harder now than they did when the show started. The kids riding bikes for example. I don't know if many kids in my neighborhood ride bikes, they're mostly on e-bikes, e-scooters, or those tiny motorcycles. Parents not knowing what their kids are up to until they come home at night. I hope they can stick the landing, especially with how long it's been since the beginning of the show.

I know I should do a rewatch, but doubt I will. I'll start and see how far I can get. Definitely a favorite. Hope they end it better than Game of Thrones did.

My daughter is ten and has been riding bikes with her friends around the neighborhood for a few years now. Initially some of us dads would follow behind them (there may have been a small beer cooler involved). But now they've started venturing out on their own.
It's been a great thing to witness and one of the highlights of her childhood for me. It felt like I was watching a scene out of The Goonies from time to time.

I rewatched it separately with each of my kids the year before last - so twice in about 6 months, and I loved watching the progression.
If you do rewatch Season 1, you get to revisit the 2 decisions made by the writers that really put the show over the top for me by going completely against the genre standards.
1. The first is having Hopper decide to go back to the coroner's office and check on Will's body and figure out it's a fake. In an average show, Hopper would have been the secondary or tertiary "bad guy" who keeps impeding the kids from connecting the dots, doesn't believe anything funny is going on, and gets shot in the back by Dr. Brenner somewhere down the line. Instead ,they humanize him with his daughter's tragic end, set him up as 11's surrogate father, and make him arguably the most popular character on the show, at least for adults.
2. They turn Steve into an unlikely hero in the season finale when the Demogorgon comes to Jonathan's house. I had told both my kids that Steve is my favorite character before they saw the show, but of course, he's the classic preppy a-hole for several episodes in a row. In a normal show, he'd show up to talk to Nancy, get in a fight with Jonathan, and get shredded by the monster. Instead he turns into a bad-ass with a baseball bat, keeping him around and ultimately leading to he and Dustin's pure gold friendship in Season 2.
I doubt they'd break the fourth wall since they never have before despite so many fantastic guest stars from the 80s, but if I was writing the scripts, I'd be really tempted to have someone tell LInda Hamilton's character (when speaking about Vecna), "You can't stop him, he can't be killed" and her say, "I've heard that before."

This show is great. This trailer looks great. Yeah the wait sucks but I'm pretty sure it will be easy to get a quick refresher before this one drops. And Mrs. Wheeler does it for me big time. Dream friend's-mom as an 80's kid.
Kids aging doesn't bother me, but I can see how others might get distracted by it. Hopefully it's well done enough to where it's not even an issue.
