Really nice week for the Stars, especially after a frustrating loss on Friday against the Avs. Nice to take out a couple of frequent tormenters in Vegas and Edmonton, and man did I like the sandpaper we brought to the Oilers yesterday. McBaby isn't much longer for Edmonton, IMO. A trade demand in the offseason would break the hockey internet, but I wouldn't totally rule it out especially after he drug his feet signing an extension.
Coming out of the Olympic break it really feels like Gulutzan is making this his team -- they're scoring, they're rolling 4 lines and not seeing drop offs and are hard to play against. That's the recipe for playoff success. Now they need to get healthy and try to overtake the Avs and set themselves on an easier playoff path.

The vibes around this team are really beginning to feel different, and it's all brought on by Ritzy Ritz, Bichsel, Erne, Blackwell etc. Those guys have absolutely transformed the competitive spirit of this team. They are abrasive, they are pests, and they are not going to get shoved around the ice. And most of all it has infected the rest of the team. Johnny and Robo getting tossed at the end of that game is music to my ears.
The only thing now is get healthy and keeping most of these lines the same. I'm not splitting up Johnny, Robo and Mav. I am not splitting up Duchene, Benn and Steel. When Mikko and Roope come back I am sticking them together on a line either with Hryckowian or Bunting, and then my fourth line will be some combo of Faksa, Hryckowian/Bunting and Erne/Blackwell. That also lets you mix and match in the playoffs based on opponent.

Totally agree on what Ritzy, Bischel, Erne, Blackwell and now Bunting are bringing to the team. They are adding a dimension that we simply haven't had in the last few years. I think once Mikko and Roope are back you try Bunting with them -- he's played up with Toronto and could be a nice compliment to the skill that the Finns bring. Just thinking about those three on the forecheck and possessing the puck in the offensive zone is exciting. Lots of penalties drawn and goals scored.
Another angle to this is that we are getting a version of Jamie Benn we haven't seen for a minute, and I personally think a big part of it is that he no longer has to be THE physical pest on the team anymore. He can now let Hryckowian, Erne, Blackwell, Bunting, and Bichsel do that and can put all of his 36 year old energy into being a good on ice hockey player.
