Why are they able to buy their players and we can't do the same thing. We have way more support and money than tech. I know tu is in another league of sports than us but come on we have to be able to do better than tech.

They are led by pitcher NiJaree Canady, who transferred from Standford, and has signed back-to-back $1 million NIL deals.
But the Matador Club, the NIL collective of Texas Tech, likes to brag that every softball and women's basketball player has been signed to five-figure NIL deals. They has enabled them to signed a number of players from the transfer portal.

We don't have any donors with that much money with that little business sense.
There is no ROI for a million dollar pitcher. You may win a championship, but you don't get a return.
Until the 12th man gifts points for donations illegally you won't get Buzbee, Beaver or Don Adams to start writing checks. The Tech guy seems to like the publicity and apparently has F me money where he doesn't miss it.

My understanding is that Texas Tech has some big money donors that really care about softball

Lubbock Aggie here -- everyone tends to assume that Tech is a terrible school, which it is academically, but people here take sports SERIOUSLY. The oil and real estate moguls here have BIG money and BIG desire to do well in sports. Cody Campbell's wife told him she wanted a winning softball team, he said "deal," and thus came Nija and KT. They are the difference maker. It's hard to bat your way out of bad pitching.

Donor. Cody Campbell.
But, ya gotta admit that Glasco can coach. He has a fluent lineup. And the team has bought in to his message. It's impressive.

It's pretty embarrassing we are 3rd fiddle in our own state. Trisha needs to get serious.

I was hoping he would be the one to take over for Jo. He is a damn good coach.

How are you defining ROI? He's not literally going to make his money back, but he's going to help his program reach a level they would never have dreamed of. His joy from that might be a favorable return in his eyes.

Embarrassing?
I think some perspective would do some of y'all some good.

Man that would be entertaining. She still doesn't have a good feel for pitchers and when they don't have it and are spent, but that would be fun to watch.

The main problem is we're too scared to fire coaches (when we do it's years too late). Just like the stupid contract extensions - it's mind boggling…
