bottomline...the Ags need to score at least 6 runs in every game

maybe 7 maybe 8 to feel good about winning

I'm thinking more than 7 or 8

We're gonna have to go double digits ever single game if Sims is done

Moss gets the Win tonight and pitches 6 innings. Then we get good Darden tomorrow.

That's the recipe

He is and we're in trouble. If he isn't pitching tonight, he's done.

I dont think so. I think we toss Moss tonight and see where we are tomorrow. I think Sims goes tomorrow. Moss is just part of the plan. I think we win in a 10-6 rock-fight tonight.

All that matters is at this point is that we get out of the regional victorious. First things first. Our opponents have used arms, so we should be OK to make it out.

We definitely need to see some improvement at the bottom of the order, and hopefully we do it tonight. Jorian is due in the worst way possible. Hope he can see some and hit the others.

Sims is 100% fine btw. This matchup played perfectly for us to use Moss today. When he's on, he will keep the ball on the ground with his change up movement. This also allows Lyons to rest up so he can pair up with Sims tomorrow like he always does. Sims is healthy.

If Sims was ready to go why would you even think about Moss? Sims has been your only reliable starter all season. You win first two and you avoid the extra game.. Its not rocket science.

Because he might not be 100% of what he was before the time off. Pretty big ask to throw him back in and expect 5-6 innings like he did before.

So he is a 100% of something not 100%. Got it.

Is that a Yogism?

Moss has been good. Especially over the back half of the SEC slate

9 runs over last 6 inn in 3 separate apperances.

He lasted 3 innings or less in each of his last 2 starts. Not exactly what we need right now. He was much stronger in the middle of the SEC slate from Vandy through Auburn. Hopefully he returns to that form.

Maybe I was thinking of the middle stretch. He was good against Vandy, LSU, Florida and Auburn

Sims also hasn't pitched in a game since 5/9, when he was lifted during the 3rd. Health is a spectrum, not 0 or 1.

Clearly, he's not been 100% shut down if he threw 25 pitches on Thursday; alternative I guess is Earley is flat-out lying right to the media.

I'm guessing we try to pick a spot to use him this weekend.

You have to play 3 games no matter what…

Why? I understand it's a better offense in Texas State, but you get the chance to save your ace for a game 3 potentially against Texas State again. He's coming off tightness, an extra day won't ever hurt.

Winning game 1 and game 2 is critical. Losing either game makes you have to go 4-1 to win the regional versus only needing to go 3-1 if you can start 2-0. I'm sure the stats would show that teams starting 2-0 win way more regionals than teams who start 1-1.

Much of this is because of inane coaching decisions however. There's a huge difference between getting pulled after 3 because you're getting shelled and being pulled after 3 because there's an infield single and an error and your coach panics.

absolutely. The Saturday winners bracket game is the most important one. Win it, and at most you play 4 games. Lose it and you have play 5 to win. We don't have enough pitching for 2-3 so getting through 5 would be a borderline miracle.

Edit: sorry for basically parroting goose. I hadn't gotten that far down the thread.

This is correct. I expect to see Sims for an inning or two at some point this weekend.

The bookies may disagree, but I have no problem with him lying to the media. There's no need for teams in our regional to know if he is or isn't pitching. USC might not have saved Edwards if they knew he was out.

Ole Miss he gave up 3 homers a double, a couple singles, a walk and a HBP to go with 5 runs through 3 innings, was it a panic to pull him and go to Freshcorn when we put up 5 in the top of the 4th to tie it 5-5?

Against State he gave up 3 in the 2nd on a combination of walks, hits and errors (by himself). Then to start the 3rd he gave up a walk and a 2 run bomb so we pulled him. Panic? 5 runs through 2 innings…

Won't shock me. I'm hoping he gets us into the 5th with 2 or less runs. Not sure how we finish the game if we have to pull him too early with Lyons likely unavailable. Maybe Freshcorn can give us 2-3 innings but if he does he might not have much left in the tank for Sunday. If we go to Darden for long relief today plus Freshcorn, it's gonna leave us with something like Bond and Powell plus a little bit of Lyons/Darden/Sdao on Sunday. Hopefully Sims is available just on a pitch count or something.

We also would have been dropped even further imo. Extremely unfair, but we've seen this exact scenario play out from these committees in the past.

Should be home run fest and Moss doesn't make it past the third. TS can slug with AGs.
