I want to give my discerning bourbon drinking husband a bourbon of the month club for a gift. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. He's a very picky bourbon drinker- only likes the best. Don't want to give him bourbons that suck lol. Thanks Ags!

only way that works is if there is a distillery he really likes that has a program like that. that is usually going to be one of your smaller ones.
Outside of that, im sure the gesture would be appreciated but that is probably about it. Just get a really good bottle instead.

It's a very kind thought and if my wife signed me up for one I would definitely be very appreciative. That said, I would rather she takes me to the store and says "pick out whatever you want".

My wife has pretty good luck getting the Spec's guy to sell her bottles that aren't out. Tell them it's for your husband, you don't know bourbon, and ask if they have anything in stock that they usually don't. You won't get Pappy, but might get something interesting.

Kudos to the Spec's guy for doing what's right but that is also a good way to end up with a Total Wine special.
I'd say just post a picture of his collection here and im sure the brain trust can provide an excellent recommendation

Follow this board and look for TexAgs barrel picks. They are all awesome. Get him a bottle or two of whatever they are picking. You can reserve a bottle on whatever thread they have up.

Love SA. My favorite Texas distiller.
I've heard amazing things about Blue Corn so it's a special bottle for me. I don't buy anything else from them.

Ironroot Republic is my favorite Texas distiller.
I know the master distiller and that helps, but they have also won a ton of awards. Won World's Best Bourbon in 2020 from World Whiskies Awards among others.

Ironroot does a great job too. Still nursing a bottle of their Cigar Blend from a year or two ago. Just can't bear to kill it!
Love Still Austin. Their regular bourbon cask strength is a staple on my shelf.
I think their levage technique they use really helps take out the typical Texas funk. The two Rye single barrels the guys did are excellent, and the fact they allowed srob2004 to let us put Texags tater stickers with a crying tu fan is ok by me!
Their Blue Corn and Red Corn offerings are top tier, highly recommend.
Side note, was able to grab a Prisoners Share from High West last week and finally cracked it tonight. Coffee and dried apricot on the nose, and cordial cherry and ripe plum on the palate. Good stuff!
