Summary of Energy Transfer & Blackstone litigation:
Energy Transfer Accuses Blackstone of Fraud in Pipeline DisputeEnergy Transfer has filed a lawsuit in Texas state court alleging that Blackstone and its subsidiary EagleClaw Midstream diverted natural gas liquids away from an Energy Transfer pipeline and into Blackstone's own system to boost profits.
According to the filing, after Blackstone acquired EagleClaw, it installed advisor Jamie Welch as CFO and formed a joint venture to build a competing longhaul pipeline. Energy Transfer claims EagleClaw then redirected volumes it had contractually committed to Energy Transfer, depriving it of significant revenue.
Energy Transfer says it only learned of Blackstone's alleged role during discovery in a related 2024 lawsuit against EagleClaw. The company is seeking damages and is asserting claims including fraudulent inducement, tortious interference, and aiding and abetting conversion.
The case is pending in the 143rd District Court of Reeves County, Texas.
