who is going to move into 'Devon Tower'?

Continental?? Nobody else is big enough...

Devon Tower is about 90% vacant now. Absolutely no way Harold pays a dime more for office space. Aubrey's complex is also mostly empty. Easily 80% of WMB business gets done in Houston. Ascent will get bought within the next year and Gulfport won't be far behind. I'm looking forward to not having to do the quarterly OKC/TUL swing anymore.

And someone is building Legends Tower in OKC which if completed will be the second tallest office tower in the US. I don't get how there is a need for that much office and hotel space in OKC.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legends_Tower

That is never getting built in a million years so don't worry about it.

The "Durango Weather Guy" sees our big pressure dome breaking down in the next 10 days. Maybe winter comes back? TBD, heading to Chile for a while, maybe get some skiing done in March!

Models have been pretty bearish for most of the US the past 48 hours. Obviously things can flip quickly, but things currently look like winter might be ramping down for at least the south.

Yesterday's gas trading will leave all sorts of bad and durable memories for a whole generation of newish traders regarding volatility of weather forecasts + Revenge of the Algorithmic Traders. I've seen it before but not quite as spectacular.

More consolidation. This is a big one in the offshore world. Transocean to acquire Valaris.

based on my limited experience with valaris crews, there is nowhere to go but up so hopefully this brings improvements

I know this isn't the Jobs board, but a lot more well connected people frequent this thread so hoping a post here will prove fruitful.

Looking for next opportunity as I took severance from major, last day is April 1. Have Masters of Occupational Safety, over ten years HSE experience, past 6ish years supporting topsides brownfield offshore capital projects (GoM and international) and subsea installation/construction scopes. Open to any sort of Senior Advisor / Team Lead roles, contract or direct hire. Have to be based in Houston for family reasons but able to travel up to ~30% of the time.

Excel at assessment of safety systems/programs and developing strategic HSE policies/procedures, risk assessment and safeguard implementation in more pragmatic (what can hurt us badly and/or kill us today) manner rather than "0 is attainable", as well as contractor safety management. Strong focus on Human Performance principles, proactive learning, and complex RCA facilitation.

A lot of corporate safety speak above, but I truly enjoy being able to assess opportunities for improvement and implementing logical ways to keep people safe. In short, I'm not the safety police.

While my job has been in the HSE function, my deliverables in capital projects have been more akin to HSE project management/leadership as opposed to day-day safety oversight of work. Happy to explore roles outside HSE that have a similar project management focus.

Have you registered with a staffing agency like Brunel, Airswift, etc? If so, which one? May have a position that would be well aligned with your experience, but will likely be a staff contractor role. Position would likely have a runway to 2030+ based on our backlog of work.

Appreciate the response, sincerely. Certainly open to staff contractor role.

Have my resume in with Airswift and Fircroft for sure. Don't think I've uploaded to Brunel yet, will be done by end of day today.

Used to dealing directly with internal stakeholders for the next role, etc. and still getting used the world of working through an agency. Happy to connect offline if it helps the overall process. How can I contact you?

Where are you located? Insurance brokers offer HSE advisory/consulting. Have you looked into that?

I'm in west Houston area.

Have done a half-assed attempt at looking into insurance before, never could seem to find the leads I was hoping for and focused on O&G.

Any suggestions on how to target/search?

Any thought about a field based role with a rotation? That seems like an easy way to get back in the game

Have rotated internationally for the past two years... one of the big reasons why I decided to voluntarily leave the company. Could have stayed with current company if I was willing/able to rotate.

May have to reconsider if things drag on and unable to find something with a homebase in Houston area. But I owe it to my family to exhaust all other options first. No problem with travel up to ~30% of the time but really need to be home.

I have time, still another couple months before I'm technically unemployed.

Same. I'll do some asking around. We've been on a pause for external hires but may be able to do something via contract.
