I was talking with a House rep from MD other day. He didn't see this ending til Thanksgiving-ish. That was the sentiment of other staffers from other districts as well. These guys were from the House side so of course they blamed the Senate and left with the disclaimer of: anything can happen (may end sooner). But I think they felt we had a few more weeks to go.
Travel wise: I had planned to travel over Veterans Day and Thanksgiving but after sitting in DCA for an extra 4 hours, I have decided not to deal with the airports til it's resolved. I'll make up for it in the spring.

Precheck is 30 minutes at least too. Gonna cascade with tons missing flights.
There is a temporary solution aside from passing a funding bill.

I've been flying in/out of DFW for the last several weeks (here now, about to leave again) and I can't tell any difference with the shutdown. There were about 8 people in the precheck line in front of me a few minutes ago, and 6 of them were in the wrong line and got sent to regular security. / shrugs
TSA folks at IAH no showed, because they aren't getting paid.
Regular security lines are now at the 2.5 to 3.5 hour wait times.
Precheck is 15 to 25 minutes. The posted waits are lies. I have to fly again on Thursday and will get here really early, even with precheck.

I just landed tonight and it is unlike anything I've ever seen. The lines have flooded out into all the traffic lanes and uber can't even get in. I chatted with a cop and he was telling people to not even waste their time getting in line because it's over 4 hours to get inside. He also said he's heard ATC isn't showing up tomorrow and expects it to be fully shut down.
I'll be flying out of IAH on Wednesday morning and will let everyone know my experience, I have TSA pre check.

Terminal E is notoriously slow since the remodel even fully staffed.
Id gladly wait for 3 hours if I knew that SNAP won't be paid through Thanksgiving

Missed paychecks can also mean no gas money. If you're living paycheck to paycheck, missing a couple can have huge impacts.
Out of DFW this morning and no issues. Hoping Seattle is staffed when I try and come back tomorrow.

Me too. Flight leaves at 1630 out of Terminal D. Plan on getting there at noon. Have TSA Pre

Hobby was 4 minutes from walking through the door through TSA precheck screening at 8:45 AM Monday, November 3. The Clear line was short as well. The regular security checkpoint looked to be about 10-15 minutes. Nothing concerning noted at Hobby this morning.

I went through in ten minutes at tsa pre in terminal E today Monday at 10:30 am. Staff was very helpful.

Lets go back to security paid for by the airport/airlines and get rid of TSA. This is a perfect example of why this never should have been a separate government organization.

I will give a update on Wed when I fly from there. Yesterday I had client with TSA Pre Check they were funneling them all together with no TSA pre check open. It look them 3 hours. I have also clients flying from AUS and DFW with no issues.
