Flying business class on BA from Bush to London on Dreamliner. Lookin for experience flying with them and booking seats. It looks like you have to wait till check in or pay extra to get seats early. Is this so? How is the food and Enron board?

I cannot speak for flights out of Houston, but we have taken the Austin to Heathrow flight many times in business class. It is a newer plane with their best seats and it is a wonderful flight. Food and drinks are excellent and they are good about getting you fed quickly so you can go to sleep. Their in flight entertainment is good especially if you like BBC shows. The lay flat seats are very comfortable. I have slept six plus hours on these flights, only getting up to go to the bathroom.

Yes, you need to pay more to choose your seats ahead of time, but if your flying business class, it is a small amount compared to the ticket.

All in all, they are my favorite business class to fly. Hope you have as good an experience with them as we have had.

I feel like it's $125-$200 to select your seat each way. So dumb IMO. Some fares include seat selection. I booked my clients AUS-LHR nonstop on a refundable fare that included seats. It was $500 more than regular but at least half of that would have been spent on seats and now it's fully refundable.

Done this flight twice in the last year. Planes should have the newest club world business class seat unless there is a plane swap to an older 787. Lounge for BA at Bush is a nothing burger so no need to get there early unless you just want to go.

I always pre-pay for seats to make sure to sit together with my party. I echo the comment on refundable fare. Have one booked for April and booked refundable as it was only about $50 pp after accounting for seat selection fees.

If you're on the 3:30 flight, definitely take advantage of the food and beveridge. If you're on the 9:00 pm I'd consider just going to sleep and eating at the airport. Food is better than coach, but nothing extraordinary or bucket list. If it's your first time flying business, definitely take advantage of the whole experience. BA generally starts food service in the four corners and moves to the center if that influences where you sit.

Once you land in London you also have access to the arrivals lounge to freshen up.

Enjoy!

how on earth can they justify charging to pick seats on a damn business class fare? that's insane to me.

OP - one more thing that may or may not be of interest to you. There is a really nice Hotel Sofitel connected to Terminal 5 at Heathrow. We have used it in the past to smooth out our trip. A couple of years ago we were to arrive in Heathrow too late to take the early flight to Cairo so we broke our trip up and spent the night at the Sofitel and flew to Cairo on the early flight the next day. We were allowed to check in at 10:00 am in the hotel and took the tube, also in Terminal 5 to London for a fun and relaxing day on the town.

We have also stayed in the Sofitel our last night in London so we could have a relaxed morning before our flight back home.

I have met some very interesting people and had some fun times at this hotel.

Like I said, it may or may not be of help to you.

New stripped down business class seems to be becoming the norm. You get the nice seat but have to pay extra for all the other upgrades.

Have used BA to go DFW to Heathrow a couple of times. Great service and better than American for sure. Can't touch Emirates though!!
