Yup. What do you got that I could scoop up?

See posts above. You recommended the elan ripsticks for me.

Nice. 177 may be a little long (168s now) but 171 seems like very little gain.

Have any better bindings vs rentals?

What sort of price can you swing those? Also, can you ship ?

The Black Crow Camox 97 174 would probs be perfect.

Like $350 includes the binding

Have any of the Line Pandora 104s? My wife caught the resort powder bug this year and that ski looks like a great fit for what she needs. Does not need anything for super deep stuff nor does she need a hard charger.

Need to make you the Texags ski equip outlet.

I'm heading to Breck tomorrow. Not sure where you are located.

I take the kids every year and always rent. I told myself that after this trip I'll at least invest in some good boots and then maybe skis later.

Have any recs for boots that will last a long while and provide comfort?

Thanks!

Hopping on here looking for recommendations on a pair of boots for next season. I haven't skied in about 10 yrs after skiing 7-8 straight years and have really been missing it. I pretty much stuck to blue / double blue (Telluride thing) and a few easier blacks back in the day. Loved all of it other than the poor boot fit that led to banged up feet and shins. I'm working on the weight and fitness right now and will ideally be at around 255-265lbs at 6' 4" by the time I get back on the snow. Size 14 wide in shoes and cowboy boots, I think 30.5 ski boot back in the day. Just looking for an upgrade from the rentals and something not so flimsy feeling.

I'm in Glenwood but work in Vail. We have a couple stores in Breck.
JustPanda

I'd just go into a store and start trying things on and see what feels best. Just make sure it's got a high enough R value for the amount of vibrations you plan on putting into the shell.

If you want something stiff that drives (sounds like you can handle it) I'd look into the Nordica Enforcers, Volkl Kendos, Kastle MX line, and Blizzard Brahma or Bonifides.

I'd also look at a pretty long length for you at least top end of the 180s if not longer. Probs like 190 - 197ish.

From last weekend in Park City. First picture is the joy of having a lift 10' from your hotel. Last picture is for anyone that has struggled skiing with kids.

Taking my 6 year olds for the first time for Spring Break. My goals for them in life are:

1) Be happy
2) Be healthy
3) Love skiing

Everything else is gravy. I'm really hoping it goes well. My wife isn't a skier and tjis will be her first time as well.

I would add a 4th: "be warm" - really a prerequisite to any of those others.

Been skiing with my now 8 year old for 5 years now. I've always been overly cautious and focused on these kinds of things and we have a blast together. I think it's something that will really payoff as he continues to get older and eventually better than me.

Thanks. Any thoughts on a boot or do I just need to find a place to try them on?

What gear does everyone use? I have Virtika bibs and jacket, smith vantage helmet, smith I/O mag goggles, grass sticks poles, and Hestra fall line gloves.

Might be nice for some of the non-locals to know what all we ride as I can only speak for myself, but I'm a gear hound and love finding new drops.

I have Mammut bibs and jacket, smith goggles and helmet, and technica boots. I don't own skis or poles.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Hestra mittens a few seasons ago but just couldn't spend the money. Settled for some Black Diamond three finger mittens. Really like them.

Marker helmet, smith chromapop gogs, black crow poles to match the skis, and everything else is mostly Columbia outerwear.

I'm thinking about getting some Hand Out mittens. Anyone tried them? My wife has some with a similar design (can't remember the brand) that allows finger access through a zipper. She loves the feature. Hand Outs are the only ones I can find with a similar feature.

look above - a guy posted and has them. My younger brother has them also. He likes them as he's a sweaty beast.

I really like them, I have the pro glove and it was pretty warm but not that cold out (20s and snowing in PC). I imagine the mitts would be warmer, plus worst case scenario they have a handwarmer pocket built in.

Ah missed that!

Glad to see that you like them, Garland! I think I'm gonna order the Lux mitten. I'm a full convert on mittens now.
