Quick trip with my son to PNC was great! Could not have picked two better games to go see, with Horton beating Skenes and then the clinching win yesterday!

Ballpark was as advertised, but would not have it in the Wrigley tier by any means. I was impressed with the amount of picnic tables and bar type seating around the stadium that seems like it would make it a nice place to hangout.

I really liked the area down by the right field line that gave such close access to the players (mostly pitching staff) as they got some pregame work in. Seats for both games were nice; doesn't seem like there would be a bad seat there. Obviously sitting around the dugout like we did is hard to beat.

In total, my son got 4 players to sign his ball, plus TMac (he may have a new crush there). Shaw, Busch, Keller, and Palencia all stopped to sign for him before the first game. he was able to catch Taylor in the camera well before the game.

Bonus was getting back to the airport terminal for our flight back last night and right behind us in the line at Chick Fil A was none other than Tom Ricketts, Jed Hoyer, and Carter Hawkins. We talked for a couple of minutes while we waited on our food and they all signed a ball for my son as well. Carter asked him what draft year he would be, so they could be watching out for him. He was especially nice and talkative. I am still surprised those guys were in the terminal like that. TMac was also in the same area, but she had her headphones on, so didn't bother her.

City, people, stadium and experience were all great! Highly recommend.

Will try to figure out how to post a few pictures in the next day.

That is awesome!

What a great experience to share!

One of my favorite trips from childhood was in 1998 when my dad pulled me out of school for a couple days and just the two of us flew to Chicago and we caught a few Cubs games.....we sat in the bleachers for one game (Randy Johnson was the opposing pitcher) and then in another game Sosa hit his 50th.

I still have a photo from that weekend hanging on my wall

Nice little 4 game sweep

My expectations of any playoff success are super low right now

Just too hot/cold to anticipate a good run

Maybe getting Seyia & Tucker healthy and in a rhythm but that's the only way I see a chance at a deep run.....then pray the bullpen doesn't implode

Up 5-1 when Horton leaves the game.....down 9-7 in the 8th.

This bullpen.

It's on ESPN tomorrow night for those who enjoy watching train wrecks.

Did they ever explain why Horton was pulled? He retired the last nine batters he faced.

Magic number at 2 for hosting that Wild Card series.

I'd love to see them go 3-1 to close this season out and carry some momentum into next week. Also good to see Boyd have a solid outing. We need him. Hopefully he gets a good week plus rest until he takes the ball in October (Please let Cade be okay for Game 1).

PCA....1 more for 30....come on man...
Cubs fan since '89, and we went to the Cubs / Stros game where the Cubs lost 2-0. Terrible game to go to, with excellent seats right behind 3rd base dugout. Even then it seems that PCA was frustrated, you could see it on his face walking back to the dugout, and that was what, 2 months ago? Sure wish he'd start going the other way more, to help him snap out of this funk, because we're going to need him, especially if KT is still bummed...

Oh and great pics 10aB!

At the All-Star break I thought he would have a legit chance at 40/40.....now I'm not confident he'll get that last one in the next few days.

He just hasn't been able to adjust to the book on him and keep from chasing.

Thank God he plays ELITE centerfield

This has been my assumption based on what I think I have seen also, however I found this write-up pretty interesting.

https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2025/09/24/pete-crow-armstrong-hr/

Quote:

Although PCA is still barreling up at an above-average clip in the second half of the season and has an identical average exit velocity, he's hitting the ball hard (i.e. more than 95 MPH) at a lower rate. And with a worse launch angle, he's barreling up less often.

Throw in a home run/fly ball ratio that was unsustainably high in the first half (and one that has probably been unfairly low in the second half) and, well, there you have it.

But do you wanna see something in the plate discipline stats that's almost unbelievable? It certainly took me by surprise.

Compared to the first half of the season, second-half PCA is actually swinging at WAY fewer pitches out of the zone (that's good!) and slightly more pitches in the zone. That's a pretty incredible set of facts for a guy who feels like he's totally lost at the plate. But that's not all.

PCA's out-of-zone contact is down (good thing to reduce weak contact) and his in-zone contact is up (good thing to increase hard contact). He's also dealing with fewer first-pitch strikes, and his whiff rate is down a bit.

Despite all that, his strikeout rate is actually up. Which … seems wrong, but is true. But, yeah. A look under the hood shows that, except not elevating quite as often or hitting it quite as hard, PCA actually looks to be okay. By which I mean he is controlling the things within his control.

That's wild!

He did crush one last night- I think they said it 108 off the bat - but it was too high (which goes back to your launch angle point) and was easily caught just before the warning track.

If in February you had just showed me his end of season totals I would have been thrilled.....but living it in real time it is so frustrating.

I hope he figures it out in the next week (or this weekend to get to 30/30) because we need some boost

What a day!

PCA in the 30/30 club
Seiya's grand slam gets him to 30 HR and 100 RBI
Tucker back in the lineup and looked pretty good

Wild card home field magic # at 1

Yep absolutely. Arguably the best SP in baseball during the 2nd half.

Thankfully Taillon has looked pretty dang good since his return from the IL. Shota has been plagued with the HR ball lately. Boyd has had a rough 2nd half. Call me crazy but Rea seems like he's been one of their better SP here in the 2nd half. I'm guessing any one of these other 3 SPs will have a short leash this week with Rea ready to step in from the pen.

Already looking forward to Steele and Horton anchoring them next season.

That's kinda wild. They'll use Imanaga to long relieve.

I get the concept of thd idea but I hate to lose one if the two reliable bullpen arms for late inning leverage situations
