More than that… since he's U21, he can do a one-time switch. So even bringing him in for Nations League or WCQ (if we had actually had that this cycle) wouldn't have fully cap tied him unless we got him over the >3 caps so it couldn't even be a case of giving him garbage minutes in a game we're winning.
A World Cup cap would be irreversible though, which is why he's balking at it. (So would Copa and I think even lolGold Cup)
Quick note on Noahkai Banks: Because Banks represented the #USYNT at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, to play for Germany he'd have to petition FIFA for a one-time switch. So far he hasn’t, per a source with knowledge of the matter.

I'm pretty sure none of the youth matches count at all. This sounds like a confused grasping at straws to me.

Adams jokes that McKennie, "at one point, was coming up with some crazy designs that no one agreed with."
Quote:
At the onset of the process, Nike gave its staff a research assignment. "We were trying to figure out the identity for the federation," Ronnie Stewart, Nike's global football product director, tells The Athletic. They realized that U.S. Soccer, "at least in the greater landscape of football, doesn't really have one yet at least on the men's side," Stewart says.
And kits had been a part of that. Over the past three decades, there have been plain whites; there have been sashes and stripes, in different shades of gray and red. There have been navy blues and dark blues and light blues; "Bomb Pops" and "Waldos"; indistinct patterns and lines in every direction imaginable.
"The U.S. jerseys change every year so drastically," Adams says.
The idea, in 2026 and beyond, was to rectify that. To create a kit (or two) that becomes a staple. "To at least have one that always has stars, or always has stripes," Adams says. "Because that's the U.S."
Several players specifically advocated for some iteration of the "Waldos," the 2012 USMNT kits with red-and-white horizontal stripes. Nike and U.S. Soccer jumped on board, but on one crucial condition: no retro. "What we didn't want to do is take a look backwards," Chargar says. And in fact, when Nike came to the federation with initial designs in the spring of 2024, the proposed "stripes" kit was "a little too close" to the Waldos, Chargar adds.
Their solution was wavy stripes. "The motion of the flag," Chargar says, "was key for us." When they presented a revised design to a half dozen players at the team's hotel in Dallas a few days before the 2024 Copa Amrica, everyone more or less signed off on it.

What an idiotic list. The 2014 whites with the collar are top 3 for me
