We weren't getting both with #1 Carver waiting to start.

I looked at both and they seem to be very comparable.

On paper, I would actually pick Horton.

Seems Coleman was also one of those "highest bidder" type of players. Hate that Texas got him but think we got the far better value. Texas blew some serious, serious cash on Coleman. Sark seems a bit desperate but not quite as desperate as Kiffin. Their OL is gonna be a huge weakness, yet, again.

QB play between Auburn and Alabama was not comparable. Both are good players, but don't look to hard at the stats.

Horton obviously.
Heisman. Give it to him.

Simpson struggled with the deep ball. Horton has insanely good hands. But gotcha considering Auburns horrific QB play.

Physically, Horton gets the nod IMO. Certainly size wise with equivalent 40 times. Moffit can hopefully do wonders for him.

Both good players. I'm glad we got one.

This is a weak take. Cam is by far the superior player, no need to pretend otherwise. Horton may very well excel here and have a great season, but let's not be ridiculous because if Coleman had committed here you'd be ecstatic.

Horton has the prototype big WR body that this roster needs. He has all the tools. Very smooth player. Makes it look easy.

Football is won in the trenches. Assume our OL really excels but tu's OL sucks next year. That happens and I can guarantee you that Horton will look like a much better player than Coleman.

Horton had 511 yds on 42 receptions in '25. 8 TDS. 12.2 yds avg.

Coleman had 708 yds on 56 receptions. 5 TDS. 12.6 avg.

Not by much if you look at the stats. Plus you get to free up $$ for DTs

I don't think there is much difference talent wise but a lot of difference NIL wise

Far superior in what way? Speed? No. Size? No. Production? No. No one said we wouldn't be ecstaticif we landed Coleman wr would have been. But its okay to be thrilled with a bigger faster more productive SEC player that was way cheaper. Coleman was WR #1 Horton was a #2.

We would have taken Coleman in a NY minute and still pursued the same other players in the portal that were pursuing. Y'alll are working some amazing mental gymnastics here. Did you forget there is no cap in college football?

Little arch can't throw lying on his back. That's the key to everything.

For highlights and explosives- Coleman

For consistency, possession type, 1st down/TD maker- Horton

I wish I could find drop pass stats, but just based on memory I feel Auburn fans were pissed on how many Coleman had on should be catches

That's not how it works. We still have an internal cap. We weren't taking Coleman and another WR.

We got a big experienced slot receiver with good speed . Need filled .

Cam would have been great, Horton is what we needed, possession and size receiver. We have explosive speed with ABR and Mario. We just need a reliable big target with actual speed (not lumbering like freak CKs TE centric offense) and with great hands (Cam had 6 drops/Isaiah had 0 drops). Also, hope it allows us to put the remaining funds toward great use (ie RB and DLine/LB depth)

Coleman 6'2 anywhere between 195-200

Horton 6'4 anywhere from 210-220 both run in the mid 4.4a

Coleman was much more heralded coming out of High School and excelled past two years with mediocre at best QBs. He was highly sought after for a reason

Horton COULD be every bit as good, like the fact that Wiggy likely thinks he can maximize his potential.

Coleman has more potential but Horton has proven to be a little more productive and dependable. Plus Horton was cheaper. This was the best option. What would Cignetti have done? You know the answer.

Horton and Coleman have a similar skills set. Coleman is probably a slightly better player oveall, but I like Horton's fit better with Reed; particularly his hands.

Coleman is the higher upside player but I think Horton will fit in perfectly in our offense

I think we'll look back at the end of next season and be happy with Horton

The biggest negative with not getting Cam is he is now on our schedule.

He is way overpriced though

Based on what everyone in cfb thinks of him

He was the most sought after player in the portal
This go round for a reason

You guys realize Horton finished third in receiving behind Bernard and Williams…. And Williams was blasted for his drops and sophomore slump. And bama had almost 600 more yards passing than us. Auburn finished more than 1000 yards behind us (so 1600 behind bama) and Coleman had more yards receiving. Horton is a nice player but he isn't near the level of Coleman. Why is Horton going to be better with us when he was on a more productive passing offense this year?? I think he'll finish about the same 500-600 yards receiving fo 2nd or 3rd behind Craver and maybe ABR.
