I'm class of '81 and I remember singing the Twelfth Man song at games. When did this stop?

Its the one that goes:

Texas Aggies down in Aggieland
We've got Aggie Spirit to a Man
Stand United, that's the Aggie theme
We're the Twelfth Man, on the team.

When we're down, the going's tough & tough,
We just grin and yell "we've got the stuff!'
To fight together for the Aggie dream
We're the Twelfth Man on fightin Aggie team

Dos anyone know? I miss that song.

Right, i have heard it played after a loss, but the FTAB plays it a lot faster than they used to and everybody is filing out. Back in the 70's, 80's and 90's was a much bigger thing

Correct Gaius,

That means it requires two things. First, that the Aggies get outscored. And second, that you actually stay for the post-game yell practice.

Yeah, I remember the '95 Thanksgiving game when it took the YL's and Q's a minute to figure out what to do because they hadn't had a home loss in their careers. Not sure how many students knew the song when it was time.

That was the first time I heard that song. Not many people sang along with it.

I also believe a fight breaking out between CTs and sips coming out of the horseshoe trying to get on the field

Back on my day the band played that song only after we ran out of time (a loss).
The last time my class played it at Kyle was after the Baylor game in 1984.

Always wished we sang it more than just after a loss. We have three great songs, The Spirit of Aggieland, The Aggie War Hymn, and The 12th Man. It needs to be used more often.

Sounds like something that was played in the 1930s and it should stay in the 1930s.

Yeah, I don't remember where it started. I was thinking bleachers in the South endzone, but I could be wrong.

Students started pouring down from the 1st deck to tackle the sips rushing the field, meanwhile the YL's are trying to get everyone to remain calm and sing the 12th Man Song.

I saw it performed as a senior in high school after the '89 Arkansas loss. It wasn't played during the five years I was a student (1990-94).

After every loss. Most people don't hang around to sing it.

I like the song. I wish we sang it between the 1st & 2nd quarters.
