Agree. Its the comment. Should be all the motivation the defense needs going forward.

D ought to have a big chip on its shoulder after those comments

We're #3 on the playoff rankings and y'all are finding things to be upset about.

Pathetic.

This perpetual victim identity y'all have adopted is pitiful. Grow a pair (or a pear).

Remember when Ohio State made it into the playoff over Big Ten Champion Penn State?

Or when Notre Dame made it into the playoff over A&M despite getting blown out in the ACC title game?

Or when tu & Alabama made it into the playoff over undefeated Florida State?

It really feels like if we lose any single one of our final 3 sec games we will be punished more severely than justified

Still playoff bound, but significant drop

What the hell is he doing???????

I think A&M has an easier path than both Ohio St, and Indiana

2 ranked as of now teams to play before the season ends is easier than osu and iu? Win out and the good guys are 12-0 with 4 wins against top 20 teams.

I think people are wary of the possibility of us getting screwed down the line if it comes down to A&M vs one of the bolded names.

Ohio St took our spot in 2020, not Notre Dame. Plus that year didn't really matter since no one was beating Bama.

Florida St was undefeated, but their strength of schedule was terrible They then went and showed they didn't belong by going out and getting destroyed by Georgia.

Great points here.

Indiana has run the table on an absolute juggernaut of a schedule.

TOSU should be #1. Undefeated and the defending national champions. Indiana? Whatever. They've been impressive. Elated we are 8-0. Win this weekend and we are almost guaranteed a spot.

Who gives a flying f***what they did last year? Why is the "defending national champions" a talking point for why the should be number 1? I didn't hear any of that bs when the talking heads had t.u. At 1 to start the season, yet when it's time to give the Ags their due… it's all about the past. Give me a break

Its really weird. Last year doesnt mean anything. Its a entirely new team.

Great point. Not to mention one of those road wins, destroyed an entire Athletic Department and possibly a University.

Why are so many of you butthurt over the rankings? The initial rankings almost always mirror status quo. They begin to change once the cfp rankings are established.

So if we get a big road win next week then we'll be more considered to move up etc.

It's all for the ratings. Just let it play out. Being #3 now is the best thing our team could have ever seen.

Not to fear, OSU will be tested next week against Purdue, and Indiana will get tested by former #2 Penn St.

Our best wins will all come on the road if we continue to win everything.

At ND top 10
At lsu top 25
At Mizzou top 25
At tu top 10-20ish depending on their results

To put that in perspective:

Osu
At Washington
At Michigan

Iu
At Iowa
At oregon

Will they though? They fired the head coach mid-season. A team in disarray shouldn't count as a quality win. I don't give a damn what they were ranked to begin the season. A&M doesn't get credit for what opponents where ranked preseason.

LSU was ranked 20th, ND is back at 10. Will ND all of a sudden be ranked preseason to high because A&M beat them at home?

Florida State stud quarterback blew out his knee in ACC Championship game. Committee used that as one of reasons, which is BS reason. That also meant Seminoles were shorthanded in bowl game.

Note Dames only quality win was over a half strength Clemson (backup QB, etc.), who later boatraced them at full strength in the CCG.

We have a higher strength of record. SOR accounts for the fact that we've played better and more talented teams than they have, and that our defense appears worse for that reason. SOR accounts for all of this. They said they were going to place an emphasis on it. They didn't.

This. #3 isn't new news and we have had a pretty easy schedule comparatively. I don't get why everyone is upset.

We have not played GA or AL but are ranked above them, so what's all the fuss about?

I knew we would be ranked No. 3 because it's hard to overcome the love affair for Ohio State and Indiana. Hopefully, we beat Missouri this Saturday to improve to 9-0 and start 6-0 in SEC play for the first time ever. A road win at Missouri would also snap a 4-game November SEC losing streak, a 6-game losing streak against Power 4 teams in November or later, and a 7-game November road losing streak.

In the last two seasons, including bowl game last year, Indiana's best out of conference win is Old Dominion.

You may have just poured gasoline on a bonfire. So A&M isnt close to OSU and Indiana cause the defense isnt at their level? This weekend might be an unbelievable a$$ whooping cause of the committee saying Ags defense is what's holding the team back.

That's so subjective. If using Total Offense rankings, A&M has faced 2 Power 5 teams ranked in the top 10 (Arky) and another in the top 20 (ND). IU has faced 1 in the top 10 (Oregon) and the next best offense they faced was Illinois (#68). tOSU's has faced #24 UDub and #68 Illinois.

The committee has twisted themselves into human pretzels with that "logic" to justify their rankings.

Erm, neither Indiana or osu have played any particularly potent offensive team yet.

We've got notre dame and Arkansas. If either iu or osu played them their defensive stats would also be worse.

Conversely, if we played osu or Indianas schedule, or defense would probably look much better on paper.

Whatever, doesnt matter, we win out or win 2 of the next 3 sec games, were in the playoffs. That's where we really want to be. We will have ample opportunities to prove these clowns wrong

Mississippi State beat Arkansas which I believe was their first conference win since Dec 25, 6 B.C - 4 B.C

Try and stay with us here, AggieDad26- the comment was plainly about Arkansas' offense and the lack of offense in the Big 10. How you missed that, I have no idea.

What an odd thread and reason to be upset. OSU and Indiana have been clearly better. Off eff, def eff, win margin, tot d, d ypp, d ypg, d td, red zone d, to margin. Our offense has been slightly better than Ohio st, and worse than Indiana. Ohio st has given up 6 TDs on the season, Indiana 7 - and Indiana has scored 55 TDs

LOFL.
You can't be serious.
Read the comments after your OP and before my post.
"Sankey doesn't want us in he playoff"
"A 3-0 team with canceled games would be ranked higher than us"
Then there's Fatboy Thaddeus' suicide note immediately above my post.
The nonsense continues after that.
"We'll be punished more for a loss than other schools"

We have lots of Nancies in our fanbase and it's on full display in this thread.

If I have reading comp issues, then I guess you must just be plain illiterate.

Don't forget they screwed Georgia out of a chance to 3 peat. No #1 team has ever dropped to #5 after a conference title loss, but had to make room for sippy.

These rankings don't matter one bit at the current moment. One way or another, this will all work itself out.
Sankey was attempting to establish Strength of Record as a means of arguing that zero loss teams are not virtuous compared to teams with a meatier schedule. That the ranking difference d not significantly deviate from the polls is a direct indication the committee intends to rule by non-transparent fiat.

Listening to their justifications for their rankings last night was hilarious. Oregon is good up front? How would you know because the only team with a pulse they played whooped them up front. Maybe they went to rivals and saw they had lots of stars?

Ohio State has played no one with a pulse. Mississippi State put up 38 on tu, OSU put up 14.

Honestly I would have been ok with them putting Alabama at 1 because at least they've consistently played good teams this year. Put us at 2 for now.

I'm not sure how the BIG did their schedule this year but they have 7 teams in the top 25 that somehow manage to never play against each other. SEC is stacking good matchups EVERY week while the BIG has had only 2 marquee conference games ALL year so far. And one of those was PSU/Oregon that now doesn't look that big in retrospect.

It's among the dumber things I've seen in my lifetime how the BIG continually gets the benefit of the doubt in preseason rankings and that ends up carrying them through to the playoffs while they beat up on Rutgers, Maryland and the other little sisters of the poor in that conference.

And the big proof of this is that Ohio State's defensive numbers took a decent hit after playing Penn State. Even though PSU is a really bad team, they were the first team OSU played that's big enough to at least move the rock a bit against them.
