IHIOGA that Shipley's is the most authentic to Prague left side of the Charles Bridge.

Original Kolache on Telephone Rd. Very old school and handmade. Lots of options available.

Kolache Bakery on Bingle was the best. Word is they moved to league city.

Ive never had a better kolache than the one at Dinner Bell Cafeteria on Lawndale. Its been open since the 50's.

I was looking for some refreshments for a client meeting at one time and somehow ended up here for cookies and pastries. I told my mom about it and she relayed a story that when my grandparents moved to TX in the early 50s for my grandfather's job on the Ship Channel, he would go eat there instead of driving home during graveyard shifts. I can't imagine the interior has ever been re-done since he originally ate there. It's very dated.
My backyard. Also great for chicken fajitas and chili & beans.

Went to Kolache Bakery in Leauge City today. It was definitely better than most kolaches (klobasniks) I've had but compare it to kolache bakery on bingo. It's nowhere close to the same though or sausage.
The only way to describe the dough off Bingle was it was a little more translucent and more fluffy. League city seemed like a little more flour snd more bready

I am of Czech heritage and my Grandmother was second gen here. My idea of a "kolache" is much different than most of y'all. First of all they do not have meat, secondly the bread has to be very yeasty tasting and sweet, and if it does not come from the oven at least still warm I will pass. Not too many great ones in the state, there is an amazing one in Temple just as you come in to town from the south on 36. There is also a great one in Columbus or was, in a little white shack behind the Dairy Queen. Haven't found too many others I like and I have tried a ton.
