EFL?

I don't see anything close to this on their site.

I just clicked the link to see what yall were talking about and the plan I signed up for isn't showing up at all. Wtf.

Any luck figuring out if your plan is still available?

if you go straight to ryhthm's website without going through my link, there are different plans. the referral code is BS.

Just provide us the EFL and I can call and speak to them directly about the plan. I've had luck doing that in the past.

Energy Ogre has always been pretty good for me. Even to the point of looking at my contracts and reaching out to suggest paying the cancellation fee when rates had dropped.

But probably going to cancel them. Just got notification of the contract they are locking me in to. Its not terrible, but not great. 13.7 cents for 12 months. So can get slightly better on power to choose. Worst part is the cancelation fee on the contract they picked is $250. The power to choose plans are $89 to $150.

I messaged to see the reasoning....

Same - they dont have access to all plans on the marketplace so will never get the lowest rate. I suspect they are compensated by certain energy providers that are in their own internal marketplace and don't use providers that dont compensate them.

I just got an email that they are locking me in at a plan that is 14.3/kWh starting in january. I appreciate they are looking ahead but are they expecting a price spike soon? Why are they locking me with that plan when I can get 13.6/kWh for 12-months with 3 minutes of searching?

Did you use PowerToChoose website to find the 13.6 plan?

Riding the 3 month contract wave, currently paying 10.2c per kWh with Frontier Utilities.

Seems like this is the cycle: renew in the fall on low price 3 month contracts, lock in ~6 month contract in winter, renew in early summer to some god awful 12+ month with the lowest cancellation fee, break contract in fall with new short term contract that easily pays back the cancellation fee. Rinse and repeat.

I had a lady on the phone with one of these companies last year tell me "you can't just keep signing up for 3 month contracts", which I laughed at and then hung up on her as she attempted to sign me to a 15+ cent/kWh 2-3 year contract. I can do this all day every day lady.

Has anyone used a tesla power wall or similar to take advantage of Time of Use plans? I was interest in Base power, but I am wondering if I can DIY the system and use the saving to pay for the batteries. Obviously Base and VPP are making enough to pay for the batteries.

I AM THE ENERGY OGRE.

It's really not a very difficult process. When I bought my house 5 years ago, I registered in Smartmetertexas.com, pulled as much past data I could, built an easy spreadsheet to aggregate average usage by month and quarters which I update maybe once a month with new data.

Then it's just a matter of plugging in the available info from powertochoose EFLs to pick the best option and compare against alternative and previous plans.

I guess if Excel sum function and formulas are scary, I guess it could be difficult. I find it quite rewarding and straight-forward.

I'm currently with TriEagle paying 14.7/kWh. I like this company because all the fees are already included
