Riding the 3 month contract wave, currently paying 10.2c per kWh with Frontier Utilities.
Seems like this is the cycle: renew in the fall on low price 3 month contracts, lock in ~6 month contract in winter, renew in early summer to some god awful 12+ month with the lowest cancellation fee, break contract in fall with new short term contract that easily pays back the cancellation fee. Rinse and repeat.
I had a lady on the phone with one of these companies last year tell me "you can't just keep signing up for 3 month contracts", which I laughed at and then hung up on her as she attempted to sign me to a 15+ cent/kWh 2-3 year contract. I can do this all day every day lady.
this is the work I expect from energy ogre and it is not what I get
I AM THE ENERGY OGRE.
It's really not a very difficult process. When I bought my house 5 years ago, I registered in Smartmetertexas.com, pulled as much past data I could, built an easy spreadsheet to aggregate average usage by month and quarters which I update maybe once a month with new data.
Then it's just a matter of plugging in the available info from powertochoose EFLs to pick the best option and compare against alternative and previous plans.
