I am unfamiliar there was a case at all, not an SBISD resident. Do you mind explaining the details of the case and what this means going forward?

There's just not enough room and parking to be able to handle a varsity football game. At this point, it's mostly used for middle school and SBMSA. It's a cool little stadium and could definitely use a face lift, but $72M is insane. They could do a lot for just 10% of that.TarponChaser said:BSD said:
Isn't an upgrade for Reggie Grob stadium on the ballot? I live right next to there and I think I've only seen it used twice in the 15+ years I've been here. I doubt I'll be voting for that measure.
Perhaps that's why they want to upgrade it? So they can play varsity football games there as well as Tully.
Heck no. You never concede to crazy people.century2 said:
I don't really see why it is a big deal. Judge said it could be a 5/2. Conservative, UMC candidates will still have control. There are amazing people on the north side. Lots of Ags. I see no reason to let this drag on. Ultimately, if we continue to fight it, it just gives the upper hand and attention to people who will likely go away and find somewhere else to make waves if we just move on. The north side is gentrifying and growing more conservative, so let's push for its continuing development and then - problem solved.
And NO to Earnest's overreach props.

Have you even evaluated the current candidates from the north side?century2 said:

If you have not gone to the polls yet, today is Election Day.
You can vote at the middle school to which your residence is zoned from 7 AM to 7PM. If you live in SBISD, please vote for Caroline Bennett, Jennifer Hyland, and Walker Agnew.

Heard many northside residents voted for Prop A because they believed the "High Schools" label meant their high schools would be rebuilt. It was surprising that this was the one proposition they supported.
It was a sad day across the state for conservative boards and candidates. SBISD was a small bright spot again, but with the lawsuit ruling, this may not be for long.
By the way, this excerpt was one of the judge's conclusions in the lawsuit, and it's truly appalling. Does the judge not see John Perez as Hispanic enough? This kind of thinking by activist judges is exactly what's damaging our country.
124.The endorsement of Perez by Republicans and Kaczenski by Democrats, although relevant, is insufficient to establish by a preponderance of the evidence that partisan politics, not race, best explains the racial polarity evidenced in this election.
125. Perez's election does not negate the finding that Hispanic and Anglo voters in SBISD consistently prefer different candidates. Although Perez testified that he is of Hispanic heritage, his testimony concerning his education, his occupation, and his children's schools shows that he has more in common with SBISD's Anglo population than with the majority of SBISD's Hispanic population.
SBISD elections are about shared values and community priorities - not identity politics or superficial labels.

The Board voted unanimously last night, 7-0, to appeal the lawsuit.
I encourage everyone to listen to John Perez's remarks at the 44-minute mark of last night's meeting, in light of we talked about here about the Judge's appalling remarks:

I also encourage you to take a moment to thank him for his outstanding service over the past three years on the SBISD Board. John Perez has consistently demonstrated integrity, courage, and conviction - voting his conscience even when it was difficult. The treatment he endured from some corners has been appalling, yet he remained a steadfast and principled leader. His departure is a real loss to our community, and I know I am grateful for the example he set.

Well....this isn't good:🚨🚨Earlier today, in the matter of Elizondo vs. SBISD, the US District Court ruled in favor of the Plaintiff, Virginia Elizondo. The Court’s ruling finds SBISD in violation of the Voting Rights Act, but seems to absolve the district of any malice in the case. The court has…

Dear Friends,
A little over a year ago, I made the decision to run for the Spring Branch Independent School District Board of Trustees, Position 3. I stepped forward because I had witnessed firsthand the troubling decline in our schools and the deep-seated corruption involving board trustees, the superintendent, and certain members of our community. I couldn't stand byI knew I had to fight for transparency, integrity, and a brighter future for our children.
Throughout my campaign, I faced relentless slander from cowards hiding behind an anonymous website, SaveSBISD.org, and others in the community who actively rooted for my failure. They attacked me not out of principle, but because they feared the strength, honor, and unwavering commitment to justice that I would bring to the board. Their tactics were designed to intimidate and divide, but they underestimated the power of truth.
Today, I am proud to announce that their efforts have utterly failed. The individuals behind SaveSBISD have been exposed, their website has been taken down by authorities, and multiple government agenciesincluding the Texas Ethics Commission, ICANN, the Department of Justice, and the Texas Attorney Generalare conducting ongoing investigations into their illegal activities. This is a victory not just for me, but for every honest voice in our community standing against corruption.
I've always believed in doing the right thing, no matter the cost or the lies thrown my way. That will never change. To those who lied, stole, and cheated for your own selfish interests: You failed. Accountability has arrived, and it's just the beginning.
Thank you to my incredible network of friends and supporters who've stood by me through it all. Together, we're building a stronger, more ethical SBISDone where corruption has no place.
With gratitude and resolve,
Matthew Cone
