Looks like I'll have to just keep a look out over the next few weeks. If nothing shows up, then I guess I'm running around town on release day to get one.
Remember GameStop opens up at 11 am ET.

Target was that way last night. They got live and showed sold out, then put into stock.
Hard to believe they sold out in seconds, especially as the heavy traffic problems showed 1 minute before go time.

Kept refreshing and got an order through!
I was refreshing both my cell phone and PC for Gamestop. It appeared as "Not Available" in red on both. I selected that which allowed me to place the preorder. I tried to do on both my PC and mobile, and was able to get the order on mobile. My PC now shows out of stock.
I got a red unavailable button, put it cart and paid. Clicked place order and waiting.

I think Wal-Mart's line system was the best prepared to handle bots.
Yep, Wal-Mart never went through the line queue, and then I did get through the line on Best Buy, but it went to a page showing unavailable and then immediately went back to the best buy home screen. For pre-orders at BB, you had to have a BB account. It required you to log in, then it verified your account, then it verified that there was supply, and THEN it added to unit to your cart and allowed you to complete the purchase. It took a couple hours before I received the email confirmation from gamestop, but I got it.

Yeah, I think I remember being told by a Gamestop employee once that they have designated preorder amounts for each store for pickup. You have to go by and order in person, I believe.aggiematt05 said:

I remember when the PS5 Pro came out, they told me that. I think there have been other releases where they still had a few of their pre-order reserves available on the release date.
Correct, you have to order in person. Its $50.00 up front and then you pay the balance when you pick up your unit.

Switch 2 Pre-Orders estimated to be 6.6 Million globally, and it's estimated that Nintendo can produce 6-8 Million by June 5th.
For reference, the biggest selling console launches ever are the PS4 and PS5, tied at 4.5 million.
